Executions can no longer result in death...

Both have ordered it stop, joining South Dakota, Missouri, Ohio, and Illinois in the civilized world.

^^ Actually, I think that someone in Florida got screwed in the execution department...it took over 30 minutes for him to die, which I believe was an error on the executioners part.

A quote from cnn.com - "Gov. Jeb Bush suspended executions in Florida after a medical examiner said Friday that prison officials botched the insertion of the needles when a convicted killer was put to death earlier this week."

I am against the death penalty, but the common joke is why would you sterilize the point of injection if the person is going to die anyway?? I guess this is why!! :(

Erm... If you execute someone, he will die. If it doesn't result in death, then that's rather painful, and rather inhumane

Evidently not in this situation warrior! Such bullshit is the "humane execution" in the US.

I STILL think that the most fair and humane method of execution is the GUILLOTINE. It's guaranteed to be instantaneous, not even lasting a second, and there's not much that can go "wrong." But I'd rather NOT see government killings.

No matter what method of execution one "chooses," it's going to be gruesome. In whatever case, a human being is being killed, and almost any method will involve pain or suffering.

No execution ever makes the original crime not happen, nor does it being a loved one back to life, or back to "as though" nothing happened, etc.

A number of people have been executed, and later found to have (probably or certainly) been innocent of the crime that sent them to Death Row, and more have been executed under questionable evidence. (George W. Bush was really "good" at that when he was running Texas in the 90's.) This is not talked about in the media, because it may fuel more protest against death penalties.

To prove a point how barbaric the practice of "state" execution is, there have been people in power who have suggested that even people like pot smokers should be executed.

I'd love to see the U.S. join the civilized world, too. When one who is innocent can be killed by a prosecution-hungry system run amok, that makes the practice all the more barbaric.
