I don't want to speculate......but since 9-11 and after reading many accounts of intelligence gathering in the 20th and 21st century....I often wonder if in some cases, there is already intelligence out there that knows who the group is and where they are located....and that the west still continues to play the dangerous game of letting cells (less so individuals) set plots and gather weapons in order to successfully prosecute them.What gets missed in the noise is that sometimes groups, aware they are under some sort of general surveillance send out confusing information and signals about what and when they are planning a terrorist act.

I have a feeling that this may have been partly the case here...although as has been noted, if seven bodies can be identified, it usually takes no time at all to drill down on their associates and neighbours.

It was also interesting that after months of scuffling in Raqqa...suddenly after the Paris bombings, France knows exactly where the attacks were planned and is able to bomb the shit out of the site. Unless they didn't know and just bombed the shit out of any place they knew was held by ISIS.

The first casualty of war is always the truth.

And sadly, there are already eight other terrorists planning to get their revenge.

Maybe we have too many pussies running our countries who are afraid to kill the killers? They wait until they have the approval of the masses, usually at the expense of innocent lives.

Or they don't act on purpose because the kneejerk reaction of the masses to a terrorist attack gives them a level of influence and rubber-stamp support that they might call a "Pearl Harbor-like event."

Actually, Obama grew up in his early years with a Muslim step father in a muslim country and when he met Rev Wright he was "steeped in islam" and Wright could not say if he was converted. I did not mention grandfathers.
The election is no over yet. Obama is bring in thousands of muslims asap without having the ability to investigate or vet them. How will the electorate react when there is another terrorist incident in the US as a result? It is a little to early for the dems to gloat over the triumph of their racism and their destruction of the old America.

I don't respect him and don't bother to get his name right. I emphasize his middle, Islamic sounding name to emphasize his muslim background and loyalty. I object to his flooding the county with muslims, knowing that we cannot adequately weed out the terrorists.
The sad truth is he is hostile to the country of which he is President. He is racist and wants to destroy the white, Christian majority. He hates our free enterprise economy, is contemptuous of our political system, refuses to accept Constitutional limits on presidential power, and clearly is working for a one party, pseudo democracy like Chicago.

That seems an odd preface to precede an entire paragraph of speculation.

And the closing is too much on the fatalist side. It has been 15 years since the attacks on the towers, and we have seen nothing on that scale since. How hard could it be to get six or eight operatives into some large venue?

Surely, with the American use of black sites and imprisonment of terrorists, and assassinations, we would be at the top of some loonies' lists. But 15 years have past. That's about how long passed between WWI and WWII.

The UN is pretty much a flop, so they should not be used as any kind of model, however.

Sadly, we bear as much responsibility as any member. The great powers insisted on veto power, and have effectively made the UN ineffective by our constant blocking of this or that initiative, no better than China or Russia. We have stymied reforms that protect the environment. We have propped up totalitarian regimes of our choosing. We have used the world court for pet causes while denying its power when against us.

We are not worse than Russia or China, but we are ultimately not better when we thwart the consensus of the many nations.

You're once again mixing up topics. "Making noise" and being terrorists are completely separate things. Speaking up, protesting, demanding, is a right of the citizenry that goes back in France to Bastille Day and further.
