CIA malware and hacking tools are built by EDG (Engineering Development Group), a software development group within CCI (Center for Cyber Intelligence), a department belonging to the CIA's DDI (Directorate for Digital Innovation). The EDG is responsible for the development, testing and operational support of all backdoors, exploits, malicious payloads, trojans, viruses and any other kind of malware used by the CIA in its covert operations world-wide.

Russia and pretty much all other countries understand how corrupt the U.S. government really is. They support Julien Assange in shining a light on this corruption and try to eradicate it via exposure. Kind of like cock roaches, you turn on the light and they scatter.

For 54 billion dollars a year, there is an expectation that the CIA can develop the means and technology to spy on bad actors around the world.

I've always considered 'smart device' as 'spy device' ... and has nothing to do with the government.
Those evil little things are tracking what you do/watch/set/etc, and sending it back to their manufacturer/software creator/etc.

I personally avoid them when I can, or they get no connection (for example I got a 'smart' TV (not Samsung) last year black-friday weekend, to me its just a TV, and its not (and won't be) connected to the internet.)
