Facebook is why I spend most of my time on JUB.

I just use it for keeping up with family, and a couple moderated hobby groups. I don’t accept request from people I’m not friends with. I don’t even accept coworkers friend requests.

Whether in India or anywhere else, it is indeed a fact that FB judges every single photo, meme, post, sentence, phrase or even word in splendid isolation without any regards for context, irony or even quotation marks. You nailed it there.

For me, it is back to the original purpose...to see pics of family and animals. I won't contribute any original content.

I believe the original purpose of The Facebook was to rate female students as hot or not.
But yeah, I've also stopped posting own content except for sharing the occasional meme. I don't want FB to follow my every move. But even for memes it's no longer good.
I even stopped writing text last Summer. A like is all people can get from me.

I look forward to the day FB begins to seriously fail when advertisers realize that the traffic isn't worth their while.

That is already the case, I think. I used to see ads for VW, Audi and Porsche; for Coca-Cola, whisky and wine; for Ikea, BOSE and Brompton; but nowadays I only see very shady businesses, extremist political groups, gambling and religious vultures. All others have forsaken them.

You are right that the song was written, recorded, performed, and popularized by Anne Feeney. I thought I heard Pete Seeger perform the song on radio some years ago, but if he recorded it, I couldn't find it or any mention of it. Peter, Paul, and Mary recorded it, and the Anne Feeney Wikipedia article says she worked with both acts. I can't be arsed to do all the additional internet research to prove that Pete Seeger did the song, if in fact that proof exists.

To each their own but fawning over "gorgeous men" is not something I ever do or even care about. A photo without a vibe or personality does zilch for me. It is just another body and/or face and after awhile they all kinda look the same IMO.

They really do ASSUME alot - it is quite obnoxious.

Oh don't worry, I had never heard of the song myself. But I googled your reference and found this and a wikipedia entry. I too was surprised that it wasn't by Pete Seeger, because the title fits him so well.
So thanks for helping me discover her, will listen to more of her for sure.

In spite of a hair trigger temper, I've managed to stay out of facebook jail. I've learned to take deep breaths and count to 10 before threatening to murder someone.

I got banned from a fb group i belong to for 2 weeks because I told something about my local amusement park that the admins of said group didn't like, they can't handle truth in the room! Apparently I was body shaming for saying that people need to pull up their fucking pants!

Facebook computer algorithms suck. I got a "warning" not too long ago for supposedly posting spam. The "spam" was simply a photo from Wikipedia of last year's Democratic primary election results. They are idiots. But yet all the vaccine misinformation, the political disinformation, and all the QuackAnoner's that I've reported over and over and over...all that shit, that still remains.

Yes. Please share. I always send out the background to my time-outs to help other people avoid a Zucking. The key is to find a term for what you are trying to say that has no algorithmic trigger language.

This is why I now use words like Saltines when I am referring to Confed flag carrying Crackers, for instance.

I must say I haven't had any problems with FB bans since the Summer, in spite of remaining just as political as I was then. Perhaps they have learned to check reported stuff better. Or perhaps it's because I barely spend 1/10th of the time I used to. I now seem to be down to once a month on FB and a few times on insta.

your racist diatribe is welcome on Facebook, I've seen entire threads about how blacks are "criminals and a burden on society" (quotation marks because that's verbatim) meanwhile I've been banned 5 or 6x this year alone for simple honest critiques of whiteness, America or racism. I was once banned specifically for the phrase "ignorant American."

You will never have problems expressing yourself, the entire facebook conduct review board is white.
