Did anyone catch the premiere last night on TNT? I thought it was OK, if not a bit on the boring side. I describe it as a cross between The Walking Dead and The War of the Worlds. The premiere focused more on human subplots than science fiction. I don't like the way it had no beginning, it just jumped right in the story without any real introduction. This made me ask, why should I care?

Agreed, it was rather disappointing. I will watch a couple more episodes before throwing in the towel, though - holding off on the off chance that it will get better.

I LOVED IT

I told myself after seeing the trailer "This is going to be a joke"

But I love it. It is totally going to satisfy me until "Walking Dead" comes back.

I understand the "Boring" opinions, and actually that's why I like it. For some reason just them "Surviving" talking about food, seeing them interact with the world always is enough for me in these types of shows. Something about it is entertaining can't really explain it.

I was thrown by that too. Was expecting a large build up. Especially with the latest Promos and the newspaper clips talking about "Vatican says Aliens could exist" and all that crap.

One thing I cannot stand is the guy's son. He is just a douche to me, as the show went on it got better but we will see what episode three does for him.

It probably lacked a beginning to give the show something to fall back on later as the series develops. Overall, it held my attention and I'll continue to watch.

Agreed. You get no backstory to make you connect with the characters. With the Walking Dead they were smart enough to have the main character wake from a coma. So he is introduced to everything that is going on right along with the audience.
I hated so much focus on the kids. Do we really need school to be in session? It's fucking an alien invasion! And don't even get me started on that wobbly skateboard bullshit. Bu I guess it's gonna be all about the kids b/c of the stupid harness thing. This show was such a letdown.

Which son? Could he have any more sons? So many people have been slaughtered but he's got 3 sons that are all alive. The eldest son isnt so bad to me but his blonde, bimbo, not cute gf is utterly annoying. I do like the defector blonde girl. But do we really need 2 blonde girls?

I'll continue to watch the show to see how it develops. I've noticed lately that many new shows seem to lack in many areas. Either they don't develop characters enough or they sacrifice story development to develop characters while completely forgoing simultaneous development...

Too many development(s) in that last paragraph. I never expected much from the show to be honest. When I saw Wyle was going to be in it I pretty much predicted it would be a "B" grade TV show. He's been in a few things (probably more than a few, but a few that I've seen) and they tend to be "Meh". Most of the stuff I've seen him in have somewhat humorous dialogue so it'll be interesting to see the constant dramatic dialogue between the characters.

Also, the father-son relationship between him and Hal (was is Hal or Howl or what?) wasn't really that immediate. I honestly thought he was just an illegitimate son because of the destruction, but eventually figured it out...

I'll admit I don't really see the "douche"-ness though.

I thought the first hour was good but then it went downhill for me; I predict a very long and boring season.
This thing will drag on and on and on and then when the ratings collapse it will get cancelled (as V was) before we see the conclusion; I mean how many times have we seen that happen.
I too would have preferred seeing what lead up to the survival it was like walking in on the middle of a movie.
I will give it one more week before I stop watching

I meant the older one, sorry. Totally forgot the other two existed.

The new chick is real nice, I love how she "handled" Billy. I just hope she gets more screen time

And I agree on the other blond, she needs to fade out. I am more entertained by the religious chick at least she could have a bit of personality.

I like it - watching it now

the older son of Noah Wylie is damn cute too

I've totally already forgotten about this show. After its unimpressive debut a couple weeks ago, I never even made an effort to remind myself to watch more of it.

It's been good so far.

I'm enjoying it.

Oh and the show has been renewed for a 2nd season.

I love this show. Watch it every week. I thought the premiere was great, though it has had a couple of boring episodes since then. Overall, I think it's a great show. Not slow, but not too fast-paced either.

Pretty much all of the characters are interesting, especially since you don't have their back stories when the show started so you get it in bits and pieces as you go along. I hate it when shows have a long build-up before they get to the real story. I don't want a bunch of information thrown at me at the beginning of a show when it won't even be relevant for 5 or 10 episodes.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the rest of this season as well as the next. It just keeps getting better!

Great show. Now it's getting better. Can't wait for the season finale this Sunday.

I liked the show's beginning. The story starts with a group of "insurgents" fighting for life and freedom. The story isn't about the fall of mankind, but about humanity's will to survive against all adversity.

AUGH!! I can't believe the season is already over! Can't wait 'til next season.

For anyone who saw it, what did you think of the finale? I thought the part with the RPG was a little cheesy. That shot was like one in a billion. Loved the ending, though. Looks like we're gonna get a much closer look at the aliens next season.

It wasn't all that cheesy. He hit one of the flyers, damaging it and it crashed into the structure. That's tactical. Fire one handheld rocket into the structure, do minimal damage..... fire it instead into an aircraft as its flying toward the structure and get the timing right, turn it into a missile to do more damage. Its all about strategy/tactics.

But yes, the ending was interesting.

I meant the fact that he was able to hit the aircraft at all. RPG's fire unguided rockets and tend to be innacurate, and yet he was able to hit a fast-moving target that was about half a mile above him... I wish I had that kind of skill with RPG's in CoD.

It boils down to a lucky shot based on a calculated estimation. But yeah, in the movies the crucial hits always happen, real life doesn't always mirror that.

Upon going back and re-watching it, I believe it was treated as a lucky shot on the show. He may have been aiming for the structure and winged the aircraft as it flew through. It then crashed into the structure. Or he may have been trying to take one of the aircraft down, only nicking it at which point it crashed. It doesn't go into much detail as to what he was intending, but the responses afterward showed a hint of mild surprise.

Ending was interesting with him going with the Alien. Hopefully next season, we get a few more answers and possibly a flashback to the invasion.
