It still is. You have called attention to my favorite anti-hero... the scholar and paranoid megalomaniac. If you look carefully at newsreels from 1952 or 1956, you will see placards that read "I Like Ike", but none that said "I Like Dick." I guess that was before the advent of Log Cabin Republicans! ;)
 
I absolutely adore Keeping Up Appearances...it is my favorite show on television. Hyacinth and Rose are really teriffic actresses as is Daisy, for that matter. The entire cast is superb and the content is priceless. I love the Vicar, Jeremy Giddings.....he is beautiful and could easily talk me into attending a church service if I thought I could get into his pants afterwards....He is such a gorgeous man or was at the time of the filming.

Indeed. I don't even have to thing very hard to remember him draped over the hedgerow when Richard almost ran him over because Hyacinth was covering his eyes.
