Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer.

It's a planned as a two parter, where the surfer is bad in this and as hero in the next one. Personally I'll be avoiding it like the plague, I worked in a cinema when the first was released. and it was a form of punishment to make us stay in Fantastic Four screens checking them. It was awful and kkilled any interest I had in the franchise.

Chris Evans looked so hot, and to have another man gripping his neck in his palms, man. I was so turned on, even if it was supposed to be a suspence moment. Man, I need help.

Has anyone here seen the "original" Fantastic Four movie? It was made in the early 1990's (I think). It was so bad that it wasn't released in theaters OR on video. My friend got it for me off of LIMEWIRE, and trust me---it's BAD. The acting is horrible, the special effects are awful (Johnny Storm when he's the Human Torch, is animated--yes, cartoon), and the costumes are cheap! I think it's on shareware as "Horrible, Horrible, Fantastic Four movie". I can't wait for this new FF movie to come out, it looks cool!

I'm really looking forward to this movie as it looks like they've got the humor of the comics. I just hope it doesn't end up being a parody of itself.

This is the latest TV spot.

Hopefully i'll get the chance to see this one tomorrow. been wanting to see it ever since the first one.

I just saw it at the midnight screening, we get another really nice scene of chris evans shirtless *|* AND IN A TOWEL!! (!)

But how was it????

I really want to see it!

Was it good?

well.. it's not gonna win best picture... haha.. but it was a stupidly fun movie... and silver surfer was DAMN cool... Doom still sounded like an idiot when he talked... Overall I liked it. Just don't take it too seriously, and don't be afraid to laugh about some visual things that they do (the mr.fantastic inside of a barrier scene looks really funny -you'll know it when you see it) and you'll have a blast

Just caught the midnight showing. My thoughts, without being spoilerish:

Cons

1. Like the first movie, this one seems to scream to be bigger. It feels like it's being held back instead of being a big summer blockbuster.

2. The effects for Mr. Fantastic are terrible in close quarters, but good in long shots.

3. Julian McMahon is just too pretty, and his voice not strong enough, to play Victor Von Doom.

4. Sue stands around during the science scenes like a dumb girl until she puts on glasses and is supposed to look smart--why not give her some lines to show her character really has a brain?

5. If you're a purist fan of the comics, you MUST let go of your vision of what Galactus looks like, or you'll hate this.

6. It needed to be about 20 minutes longer--c'mon, a summer superhero movie logging in at 91 minutes?

Pros

1. Silver Surfer effects, voice and character are amazing and beautiful.

2. We actually get characterization, especially from Johnny.

3. Lots of Chris Evans! Yum. And shirtless even. Yum. And butt shots. Did I mention Yum?

4. Sue much more powerful--move in the right direction.

5. Many of the humor scenes were, in fact, humorous.

6. At 91 minutes, it does clip along rather nicely, so anything you don't like won't be on screen for long.

Verdict? Still not as good as it should be, but damned better than the first. At least ten times better. I've seen worse already this summer (nearly three hours of self-indulgent look-how-cool-we-are-double-crossing-plot-twists-with-no-solid-plot-pirates, anyone?).

Im not even going to bother :( i absolutly hated the first one. baRF!

^^^ This one was way better than the 1st. Go see it. Anyone notice Frankie in it(the soldier Johnny likes)?
Frankie Raye was born in New York City. She became Johnny Storm's girlfriend, and was known for being afraid of fire. Later, her fear was explained to be the result of a mental block induced by her stepfather, Phineas Horton, after she was accidentally doused with the chemicals which caused the android original Human Torch (his creation) to burst into flame, in an attempt to prevent her using the Torch-like powers granted her by the accident. She broke up with Johnny and then became the Silver Surfer's girlfriend because they both live in outer space, a source of commonality.
After breaking through the block, she aided the Fantastic Four for some time, until she volunteered to become the herald of Galactus. She claimed to have no compunction about leading him to sentient populated planets and proved that when she led the Devourer of Worlds to the Skrull homeworld to consume it in her period of service. When Richard Rider resumed his Nova identity alongside the New Warriors, he was briefly called "Kid Nova" to distinguish him from Raye. Frankie Raye was ultimately killed by the alien Morg, who had replaced her as Galactus' herald, in Silver Surfer #75 (1992). The demon Mephisto later made it appear that she had returned from the dead in a failed bid to steal the soul of the Silver Surfer

I agree, this was better than the first. Plus Chris Evans is such good eye candy...|

yeah, I got the reference----I had the issue where Johnny had his first date with Frankie--long before she found out about her powers---I was sitting there going Frankie, Frankie I know who she is. How about all the talk about Ben and Alicia--foreshadowing her relationship with johnny, methinks. Alicia turns out to be a alien named Lyja and the real Alicia was in suspened animation----then she(the real Alicia) runs off with Silver Surfer. Sorry geek bubbling up, must repress....repress. So, yeah the movie was good.

They may not follow all that Alicia stuff. She is suppose to be a Sue Storm look-a-like and this actress don't look like Sue. I don't even know if they will show anymore with Frankie but it would be cool. I really thought it was gonna end with Frankie becoming a herald.

um..... lets see. i know the basic storylines for the comic books. didn't mind the effects the the movie. the cheesy lines, bad acting, and lessons incorporated everywhere made it obviously aimed at the 12-15 year old market. lame but not a waste of time or anything like that. i knew what it was going into it so i wasn't dissapointed.
