This is a first time reply. I've been a little shy hoefully you'll all forgive me. I haven't jerked with my Dad. I think many people consider kissing to be less about sexual fulfillment and more about emotional fulfillment, so many times kissing is associate wanting to kiss as being emotional. So 'straight' guys may consider themselves straight despite havign gay sex, since it's just about feeling good. But they probably consider kissing to be 'gay'.

First let me say-- hot thread.

Second, I would like to discuss the notion of incest. We all know what it is, of course, and most "normal" (by which I mean what is perceived as normal, which probably means the majority) are completely repulsed by the idea. Most of the time the argument boils down to "That's really gross," without anything to back it up, as earlier in this thread. But why is there this reaction? I think the answer is genetic. Inbreeding (which is the biological side of incest, rather than the social side) is a problem in the natural world-- it limits the range of genes offspring can possess and more often than not causes genetic defects. To this end, animals are "programmed" to avoid the behaviour in order to continue their species-- and so are humans. We merely consciously acknowledge this idea, writing it into our religions and laws, and actively discourage it (humans are naturally very curious, and doubtless without societal morés, there would be many who would like to try). It makes sense in this way-- a father should not have relations with his daughter so that they do not produce offspring (in this case, "morals" are a direct result of biology).

But this gets extremely complicated in the modern day. Were a father and his daughter to have intercourse with birth control, there would be almost no chance that offspring could be created, and if it were, it could be dealt with easily.

So too a father and his son. They can have no possible offspring, and so the question becomes "Is is still 'wrong'?" (And by "wrong" here I mean societally offensive.) Because this particular moral stems from natural law, when that law does not apply, does the moral? Many intelligent people argue no, suggesting that people who are repulsed by the thought are simply unable to overcome the biological barrier of disgust.

I think that's a fair summation of both sides, how about you? Do you follow nature, or do you argue that man is beyond natural law (consider medicines, technically "against" nature)? I'm interested to hear your thoughts.

(Also, I am perfectly aware that this thread is about masturbation, I read the entire thing. But I think this is an appropriate place to bring it up, considering the deaths of the other threads on the topic. My own opinion, tempered by the acceptance inherent in my faith, is that people should decide for themselves but not press their opinions on others.)
