Fox News Has Cable's Oldest Audience

"In a survey released by analyst Steve Sternberg, Fox News has the oldest audience among fully distributed cable networks. The network's average viewer last season was 65 years old, according to Nielsen. Heck, it's viewers are even older than viewers of Hallmark Channel, Military Channel and Golf Channel," writes James Hibberd. "Perhaps the reason viewers tend to leave Fox News on all day racking up hours of big Nielsen numbers is they can't actually change the channel?"

He adds: "The youngest fully distributed cable channel? Oxygen. Followed by Bravo and, weirdly, VH1 Classic, then Travel and TLC -- all averaging about 42 years old."

It appeals to angry old white guys.

As I pointed out in CE&P, Fox has only about 29,000 black viewers.

Seriously.

I get most of my 'news' from Jon Stewart on Comedy Central, Chelsea Lately and The Soup on E! and InfoMania on CurrentTV channel. Also, Charlie Rose on PBS.

The US two party political system is becoming dangeously self-indulgent of the 30% on each end of the looney tunes spectrum. The news reflects the sharp division in the nation. Nothing gets done other than disagreeing and arguing with "the other side."

It's a sad state of affairs when "journalists" and anchors continue to blatantly take sides.

The truth is out there, it just isn't being reported.

WTF! You against "fair and balanced'?

Let me help a poor liberal who has trouble posting a link.

If you need help with your Milk of Magnesia and walker later. Let me know, I'd be happy to help.

If you still couldn't find your glasses -- let me help you . . . . Fox News' average viewer age was 65, CNN's was 63, and MSNBC's was 59.

Looks like only old people watch cable/satellite news.

JUB members watch Fox News....?

There are some hard core conservatives in the gay party.

Who knew?

I have a lesbian cousin who voted for Bush twice merely because he was a Christian. I asked her about the issues and she said, "I don't really keep up with that."

You could've knocked me over with a stick.

Keep your enimies closer, as the saying goes.

I watch it for amusement and aggravation, but I can only take about 3 minutes of it at a sitting.

For example, flipped over to it this afternoon and there was Glenn Beck - dressed up in a costume that said, "the fed" on it. He was holding something marked, 'little black book of secrets', or something like that, and he was putting play money into an imaginary bank.

That was enough for today.
