When propaganda is spoon-fed to their viewers it's actually hurting them. It's not news, it's commentary. Big difference.

Interesting to note in this survey, however, that MSNBC viewers rate almost equally badly in most of the questions. It would seems that biased, opinion-heavy news sources, regardless of the political persuasion, do equal damage to their viewers.

Moral of the story - watch NPR and Jon Stewart to get more informed. :-)

I don't put much faith in "colleges" who cannot even get accredited by a known entity. If you want to fill your mind with garbage, I guess that's your choice.

Hello?

They're accredited by the outfit for the region, that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the national association of accreditation agencies which do accrediting for places like M.I.T.

And I learned that by following your link.... ](*,)

And the BBC. They aren't American, so they don't really give a shit about any slant, they just report it.

Quoted for truth. The BBC have their issues, but they ARE an institution whose principle aim is reportage of news; not interpretation of it. Take a quick peak when you have a chance of BBC news report clips on YouTube; compare and contrast to the theatrical nonsense you get from Faux News and MSNBC (which are largely about rabble rousing, tribal chest beating etc, although the latter do seem to have more attachment to reality than the former). The lack of professionalism inherent in both is appalling to my eye, as is the Michael Bay style style dramatics, evident hyperbole, calculated language, tone etc etc. It's all theatrics, and not even good theatrics; anyone who watches Bill O'Reilly or whoever and can't see that the man is acting his socks off really needs to take some basic amateur theatrics workshops. The demagogues play to their cash cows; they now what kind of tribal vomit they like to suckle on, and spew it without much in the way of thought or consideration.

As for the opinion shows the BBC does have, I'd advise checking out Jeremy Paxman; he's harsh, acerbic, but extremely fair; he grills politicians and the like without bias; left wing, right wing; moderate, extreme; it doesn't matter; they all go through the wringer on his show, and he's a damn sight more professional about it than the likes of O'Reilly et al.

The Beeb is the standard for news.

I think this pretty much sums up Fox News in a nutshell...

Report: Sarah Palin scolded by Roger Ailes over 2012 announcement

When Yahoo News spoke to Roger Ailes at Fox News' 15th anniversary party in September, the cable channel chief said that if Sarah Palin decided to run for president, her position as a paid network contributor would be over.

"She's out," Ailes said. "Done, immediately." He added: "We'd cover [her] like we would any other candidate--fair and balanced."

Ultimately, Palin decided not to run, but according to New York magazine's Gabriel Sherman, her days at Fox may be numbered anyway. According to the report, Ailes was furious that Palin made her Oct. 5 announcement on conservative talk-show host Mark Levin's radio show--and not on Fox News.

Palin appeared on Greta Van Susteren's primetime show on Fox that night to discuss her decision, but Ailes was nonetheless livid, according to the magazine.

"I paid her for two years to make this announcement on my network," Ailes scolded Bill Shine, Fox News' executive vice president of programming, according to Sherman's sources.

So you paid her for two years for 15 minutes of fame and she jipped you? This Palin woman may be smarter than we think or are Fox News execs really that fucking stupid?

If her contract with Fox is up in 2013 and won't be extended, what will she do for cash? Resort to more obvious ways of prostituting herself? Depends on how badly she wants to keep this job, but I'm sure Roger Ailes will be wiping her Pit Bull Lipstick off his dick when she reapplies for it.

Guess it will be time for her to put her name on another book. There should be a couple thousand idiots ready to cough up $34.95 for a book with her name on the cover. And there's another "Will She Run?" campaign in 2015-2016 good for some ready cash. All her offspring should be needing houses then and she wants you to pay for them.

It sucks to fade from the limelight and not very lucrative.

She can pull $100k for a speaking engagement -- she won't be hurting for income.

Isn't it sad when the standard bearer for American news is a comedian host of a mocking show on a comedy network?

Betcha there won't be a thread about MSNBC

who wants to bet? ;)

it would seem to me that having one source only is bad

This.

Like Gingrich, she knows she can re-appear for the 2016 race starting in 2013, coming off an intense gig of commenting on the election results.

SaraPac will be accepting the donations the day after the election if Obama wins.

If Obama doesn't win....sister Sarah's career in politics and at FOX is terminally over.

No not necessarily.

Spinning it into what you would do is quite popular on the infotainment stations.

sigh.

You are likely right. But if she starts to disagree with what the GOP is doing if they win 2012, they'll box her up and ship her out to Wassillastan so fast, she won't have time to pack her ammo.

I have to believe that Sarah's "base" shrinks every day

last night's debate actually had republican's talking seriously and somewhat intelligently about real issues and what they might do

you can argue with their take and action plans but many/most appear to have a grasp

she has none

and i think as things get more serious

she gets less relevant

and roger ailes is not a stupid man

her next step is a PPV cage match vs. a loony liberal - perhaps sheila jackson ???

Another thumbs up for the Beeb, they are an awesome news agency.

I don't have a lot of access to conventional network news sources in the US, so what I'm about to say is more cable-news focussed, but ... what the hell happened to American News?

In just 50 years, the US has gone from the brilliance of Edward R Morrow, the outstanding performance of Bernstein and Woodward ... to bimbo-anchored screaming matches, factless opinion spouting, and astoundingly obvious bias.

What happened? Sadly, I fear an (ex) countryman of my own is partly to blame, but why do you think Americans allow it? Why are you watching it?
