here's a GREAT easy dish
layer in the cooker as follows
1 lb ground beef (cooked in skillet first)
2 cans 14 oz Chile Con Carne (no beans)
green chilies (canned whole or chopped)
4 -6 Tamales (cut in bite size)
Green Salsa - large jar
Olives (adds some nice color)
set to cook low for a few hours and ... OMG it is awsome.
top with cheese before serving.
I love my slow cookers. I have two.
Nesco is the brand name for one ... 6 quart, oval and has a metal insert for cooking. It has many settings from low to steam.
The other is a rival, round and has the stone insert.
There doesn't seem much that you can't do in them. I've even made a cheesecake once..
Some recipies don't call for a full 6-8 hours to cook. Use a timer to turn the cooker on during the day.
Do look for cookbooks ... there are many out there. Garage sales / Estate sales are great for finding them.
Have fun and enjoy.
