I agree with Jadin23, Silversun Pickups are very good. They sound a lot like The Smashing Pumpkins back in their day.

"Carnavas" is probably my favorite record of the year.

The Killer's "Sam's Town" was my favorite album of last year....bought it in October but 'Read my Mind" is an amazing tune!!!!!!!! ..|:=D:

Well with Spoon's new album now out and about, I'd have to stick that in so...

Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga

Horrendous title, but its just an absolutely amazing album. Here's some good linkage with two legal tracks to boot (Both Sides of the Mouth) Silversun Pickups definitely deserved a spot in last year's Top lists, had the limelight taken by TV on the Radio (but needless to say it was a great album). Um lesse other picks for this year...

The Shins - Wincing The Night Away
definitely, Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrypha

I'm sure there's more, but I honestly can't remember when things are released. Writer's Block btw, is a slightly better than average album (I wouldn't spend $15 on it). Other good songs on that album are Let's Call It Off, Amsterdam and Paris 2004. That was released last year too though, no?

If you don't want to be disappointed, the Kaiser Chiefs album follows up to your expectations from Ruby. Your Truly, Angry Mob was appropriately titled seeing as the entire album has a very letters from an angry mob feel to it. Heat Dies Down and Angry Mob are two other very good songs on that disc. While I'm on it, there's a very Kaiser Chiefs band from Spain called Second. If anyone's heard of them, I'd be very interested in *ahem* borrowing an mp3 or two from you...

Oh yes - hate to double post, but Architecture in Helsinki drops their album in August, and I'm very much looking forward to that...

Hey Jadin32, actually Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" would have placed higher than No. 39 on my list if I hadn't gotten so sick of it so fast.

You'll notice her "You Know I'm No Good" places much higher, at No. 14. That song is far superior although it didn't even make the Billboard Top 50.

What ruined it for me, though, was the overkill of Winehouse this summer: the cover of Rolling Stone, singing "Rehab" on any awards show that would allow her on; and every single person on MySpace using that song as their profile song.

Hopefully the rest of the releases from the album won't meet with so much overkill.

Haven't heard anything else by Winehouse and actually have only heard 'Rehab" like 5 times. I'll have to give her a listen.

I notice you enjoy singer/songwriters.
If you haven't already you should definetely check out Patty Griffin.
Her first two cd's "Living With Ghosts" & "Flaming Red"are her best ( IMO.)

I've read that Kelly Clarkson is a big fan!

HI RAYBEE!(*8*)
The Shins is right there below the radar...not quite top 5 but top 10 anyway!
It has a 70's feel to the music (IMO).
Is the song "Australia" played a lot there?
Ex. commercials or travel ads.

No, the song "Australia" hasn't ben used commrcially. Other than the title, the song actually has nothing to do with Australia. I believe they may have written the song here, but thematically it's nothing to do with OZ (as far as I can tell). I'll be seeing them here next month - really looking forward to it.

I noticed you had Neon Bible in your picks. I bought it, gave it many listens, and I like it, but not as much as "Funeral", and not as much as all the major reviewers liked it. What am I not seeing?

I'm really bad at picking orders for my favourite albums, but i'd say...

The Sweet Escape - Gwen Stefani (Orange County Girl)
With Lasers - Bonde do Role (Quero te Amar)
Cansei de ser Sexy - CSS (Lets Make Love)
Myths of the Near Future - Klaxons (Golden Skans)
Loose - Nelly Furtado (Say it Right)
Sam's Town - The Killers (Bling)
We Are Pilots - Shiny Toy Guns (Le Disko)
The Best Damn Thing - Avril Lavigne (I Can Do Better)
B-Day - Beyonce (Upgrade U)
Neon Bible - Arcade Fire (Black Mirror)

And probably a whole lot more I can't remember right now. I think it's been a pretty good year for music overall
