Favorite albums/songs of 2007

not to whine or anything, but i didn't like the linkin park. it strayed too much from their original sound. mike shinoda's barely in any of the songs. it was, however, refreshing to hear him in "bleed it out," sans the chester bennington rasping out the chorus over and over again at the end of the song; that killed it for me. =/ In Pieces was good though. it reminded me of minus the bear; and it IS different from what original linkin park sounded like, but i like it. /shrug

i wanted to post, but being the backwards and out-of-touch schizoid i am, most of the stuff i currently listen to is about 2/3 years old but happens to be "new" to me.

I like when bands try something new and don't repeat the same "sound" over and over!
My husband loved "hybrid theory..|" but doesn't care for this one.
Everyone has different taste!
"BLEED IT OUT" Is one of my favs though!!!!!!!!!

No, the song "Australia" hasn't ben used commrcially. Other than the title, the song actually has nothing to do with Australia. I believe they may have written the song here, but thematically it's nothing to do with OZ (as far as I can tell). I'll be seeing them here next month - really looking forward to it.

I noticed you had Neon Bible in your picks. I bought it, gave it many listens, and I like it, but not as much as "Funeral", and not as much as all the major reviewers liked it. What am I not seeing?

Here in the good ol' U.S. of A. if I a song even mentions the united states they put it in a Chevy truck commercial or something!](*,)

I haven't heard "Funeral" so i can't compare!?

Sounds depressing though! or maybe it's a lively uptempo cd?????
The Shins concert sounds great! I
've listened to them three times this weekend and it just gets better!!!
"Red Rabbit" is my fav pick as of now!!!!:=D:..|:gogirl:

I'm still leaning towards Mirrored by the Battles as my favorite CD of the year. I'll have to do some digging to come up with a true list, though.

"Red Rabbit" IS my fave. Great Track.

On your recommendation, I bought "Carnavas" by the Silversun Pickups.
It took about three listens for me to "get it", but damn, now I get it! Excellent release, thank you!

They will be in Oz soonish. I think they're touring with Snow Patrol, although I'm not sure who's headlining. I'll need to check out the details.
