Favorite Book When You Were 8

I think I read somewhere that Dahl's wife said he'd have liked the Burton version and gave it her blessing.
Well, his wife is a filthy, money-grubbing whore !!

nah, I kid... I'm sure she's a lovely woman.

Let's hope she's still shaving her giant peach.

I think I read somewhere that Dahl's wife said he'd have liked the Burton version and gave it her blessing. But I agree... I think something in between trippy and quirky would be most appropriate.

Yeah, but Asimov's wife let them make that loathsome travesty I, Robot too. The wives don't always have the best judgment. Or any at all.

I can't really remember - it's a LONG time ago. But possibly any or all of: The Wind in the Willows, the Narnia series, the Paddington Bear books, Professor Branestawm, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland...

my dad has collected national geographic since the late 70's. they were my reading material of choice for many many years (woot for naked indigenous penises and boobies!)

I loved this book so much I slept with it under my pillow. I still have it.

I had that same book! I took it out of the library and read it over and over. It bowdlerized some things, of course, but if I am a polytheist, that book is what started me going.

Wow. Thanks for reminding me. I remember that cover so vividly. This is great!

I was a huuuuge fan of Animorphs, the entire series.

Roald Dahl was my hero. BFG was the favourite, mostly because it involved farts. What more could an eight year old want?
