^ ^ thanks! Yeah, I should be able to swim through her catalog on my own with those suggestions.

Re: Cyndi Lauper

Estelle and Kelly Rowland joined Cyndi Lauper on stage at the amFAR gala last month to sing Lauper’s classic 1984 single Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

Estelle and Kelly Rowland SOUND AWFUL. At least it was all for a good cause.

Re: Cyndi Lauper

REACTIONS TO RULING STRIKING DOWN PROPOSITION 8 IN CALIFORNIA:

CYNDI LAUPER:

"Gay and lesbian couples have long struggled for acceptance and the ability to marry the person they love and want to build a family with. Today's landmark ruling declaring Proposition 8 unconstitutional is a testament to the fundamentals on which this great country was built and validates that the discrimination gay couples face must come to an end. We as a society should be embracing these couples and helping them make the lifelong commitment to each other that many of us straight people take for granted each and every day. This decision is a major step in the right direction towards equality. On behalf of the True Colors Fund and the Give a Damn Campaign, I want to commend and thank Chad Griffin and the American Foundation for Equal Rights, the legal team headed by Ted Olson and David Boies, and the plaintiffs in the case, Kris Perry & Sandy Stier and Paul Katami & Jeff Zarrillo, for their leadership and courage in standing up for equality and fairness."

Good enough... for you is... good enough... for me! GOOOOD Enough!
I love Cyndi! They should make a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for her. She's one of a kind and brilliant.

I love how when she covered Prince's song When You Were Mine she didn't adjust the words to reflect a gender bias. She sang the words he wrote, that's awesome!

Re: Cyndi Lauper

I love listening to new music. I was wondering if you guys could recommend an (the one that may define her best) album or some of her underrated good songs. I know most of her popular songs but there are always really good underrated songs that are just as good as the singles.

Old or New idc

My personal favourite album of Cyndi's is "True Colors". "Sisters of Avalon", "She's So Unsual", "Bring Ya to the Brink" and "Hat Full of Stars" are all great too. As for favourite songs try:

Calm Inside the Storm (my favourite Cyndi song)
Hole In my Heart
Witness
You Don't Know
Fall Into Your Dreams
Who Let In the Rain
Time After Time
Echo
Hat Full of Stars
What's Going On
Iko Iko
Money Changes Everything
Sally's Pigeons
Raging Storm
Into the Nightlife
Unhook the Stars
Ballad of Cleo & Joe
Change of Heart
When You Were Mine
Rocking Chair
True Colors
Lay Me Down
The Goonies 'R' Good Enough
Fearless

Is this Cyndi Lauper's mother?

Re: Is this Cyndi Lauper's mother?

I don't know. I saw it on the net. Catrine(?) Lauper was a showgirl, wasn't she?

Can you see the logo on her chest?

Re: Is this Cyndi Lauper's mother?

I've found a mature man who tells me the logo is the 'Trylon and Perisphere[?]' at the 1939 New York Word's Fair.

He says there were lots of sleazy girlie-shows and fun-fairs outside the main exhibition area.

So 1939 may align with the Lauper family.

This is Catrine Lauper and Cyndi in 2006.~

Catrine Lauper bore Cyndi in 1953.

Wikipedia tells me Catrine Lauper worked a New York waitress and tried to get in to showbiz.

It seems there were lots of Tin Pan Alley vaudeville shows at the World's Fair with jobs for young photographic models, soubrettes and taxi-girls.

This is the logo on Catrine's chest in that black and white photo above~

Re: Cyndi Lauper

On Friday at New Orleans Jazz Fest, Arcade Fire were joined on stage by none other than Cyndi Lauper. Lauper duetted with Régine Chassagne on Lauper's hit "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and Arcade Fire's "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)". Watch video of both below:
