I just read that Elton had 54 songs hit Billboard's Top 40 from 1970 until now. What amazed me is that Tiny Dancer was not one of them. Today , that is probably among everyone's top five EJ songs.

I can't narrow it down to five -- so many songs for different reasons to me. In no order, i can't pick a single favorite....

greyboy, you are probably the only person who will ever list "Big Dipper" among Elton's best. This was from his "low point" - 1977-1982. I actually like some of his stuff from that time, but aside from having a big hit with "Little Jeannie" , nothing really clicked with the public during those years. I think it was overexposure...from 1970 to 1976, there was nothing on the radio except Elton. (BTW, I agree it took guts to do "Big Dipper"...especially with his rugby team singing backup!)

Your Song if we're picking a Top 40 track but Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding as best song. He opened his most recent tour with it. Did the entire Side One of GBYBR to start the show!

Daniel for a slower song and Grow Some Funk of Your Own for a kick ass EJ song. Again, way too many great songs to chose just one. I agree with Ontario above that Funeral for a Friend/LLB is a great song too. His concerts are amazing. Even though he always leaves out great songs like Levon or Bitch is Back.
