Favorite Gay Movie?

I'm watching it now, lol.

"Amber, the woman clung to your tap shoes while she was flying through the air like a goddamn lawn dart!"

What about "Fellini - Satyricon?" It was based on a novel written for the Emperor Nero.

I watched Trick last night with bf. I enjoyed it.

I'm loving this gay movie fest I am having at the moment.

Eating out movies next probably.

I forgot 'Querelle' and 'Un chant d'amour'.

Oooo, another fan of Jean Genet! I'm glad I'm not alone. Un chant d'amour is terrific.

The movie I come back to again and again is Andy Warhol's My Hustler. In the first half, a middle-aged queen proposes a contest with his female neighbor and an older hustler to see if they can seduce the young, beautiful, blond hustler that he has hired for the weekend. (The young hustler lies out on the beach.) In the second half, the two hustlers share a bathroom showering (not at the same time), shaving, combing their hair, all the while discussing hustling. The running time is 64 minutes.

I think most people find it boring as all hell, but I watch it over and over.

Eating out watched last night.

Get Real and Curiosity of Chance watched tonight.

I am so loving this gay movie fest.

I have over 2 dozen more to watch now.

I love downloads. :-$

Before I saw that movie I thought I was incapable of crying, but when Timothy reluctantly sang that Sleep Sound song and sadly said goodbye, I think I recall a tear falling. It was a great movie. Bought the soundtrack on iTunes.

My stupid High School was nothing like that. lol

That same scene gets me every single time. Has not failed yet.

I bought Beautiful Thing and Shelter on Amazon.com. Both were scheduled to get here on Friday, but in different packages. Beautiful Thing got here 5 hours ago, watched it, what a beautiful movie. Also gave me a nice new perspective on personal acceptance. I'd reccommend it, I just don't think it deserved an R Rating.

Then I go outside to stretch ten minutes ago and Shelter is waiting at my doorstep. Today's a good day for movies; I'm going to watch it after I cook myself dinner. After Beautiful Thing's profound effect on me, I'm ready for just about everything.

Would you say this one had gay themes? Brillliant movie ... Hoffman's best, IMO ...

Good onya. ..|

It would appear many of us are discovering some nice gems of movies.

I'm going to keep posting the ones I watch. I am no critic so I will not be providing a run down on them. A simple I loved it, I liked it, It was OK, It was meh, or I hated it is what you'll get.

My list so far to recap:

Shelter - I loved it, loved it , loved it :D
Beautiful thing - I liked it
Latter Days - I liked it
Eating out - It was OK
Get Real - I liked it
Curiosity of Chance - It was OK

more today (!)

"Were the World Mine" is an excellent take on "Midsummer Night's Dream."

It does, though I wouldn't classify it as a gay film. Brilliant movie, though. The book isn't bad, but I think in this case the movie is better. ..|

Well, I'm hoping to have some new favorites soon. This month is QFEST, Philadelphia's 16th annual gay and lesbian film festival. I got the program book a couple weeks ago and I'm actually considering the all access pass to see EVERYTHING. Of course, if I get it I probably will have to work nonstop and won't get to see much...

but it's guaranteed I'll at least get a 10-pack and see at least 10 films during the run.

Anyone wanna come along?

I have seen some of the mentioned films in this thread at previous Philadelphia festivals. Ours is a really good one, with the power of TLA Films as a working partner. And the people who run it try hard to make it good. It's an event the locals support - I always run into people I haven't seen in a while at the theaters.

party monster
