Yes, Justin Kirk (who plays Andy Botwin on Weeds) plays Prior Walter in Angels in America.

He does an AMAZING job, as does the entire cast.

Interestingly, Angels also stars Mary Louise-Parker - Nancy Botwin - as Harper Pitt, another wonderful character.

All this Angels talks makes me wanna bring out my DVDs and watch all six hours again!!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

One of my personal favourites the french film 'The Wild Reeds' is fantastic.

But i was a proper film student so i would like those types. As for previous ones mentioned like get real, not so much. It sustained my interest as a teenager but 'queer cinema' as a whole due to low budgets, cliched scripts etc rarely offers anything that good. But if you like it then great.

I loved 'La Mala Educacion'! One of my favorites.

'Plata Quemada' is also good, though not the three bank robbers are gay. The funny thing is that it is a true story, I think it was a story from the 50s

'Between Love and Goodbye' was not mentioned by anyone. I actually loved it. It's got a sad ending, that's why many people wouldn't like it, but I thought it was terribly moving.

I LOVED 'Get Real' when I first saw it (I was 18 I think), it became my favorite movie at that time. I don't think I'd enjoy it so much now that I'm 26

i loved Mambo Italiano and loved Latter Days, i thought Dog Tags kinda sucked (and not in the good way haha) But i just got Beautiful Thing in the mail from netflix.. also The New 20 was a great movie, kinda hard to follow at parts but my #3 movie
 
If you want a sad romance, try Bent. Mick Jagger (Rolling Stones) plays a drag queen (cameo appearances, mostly). It is set in Nazi Germany and focuses on a gay man who is sent to a concentration camp, where he finds love.

Don't watch without tissues.

Oh, and how could I forget Gods & Monsters? Staring Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf) opposite a hunky Brendan Fraser (The Mummy, The Mummy Returns). Bitter-sweet movie, worth a watch.

And if you like mystery, try the gay detective Donald Strachey movies, based on the novels by Richard Stevenson. Strachey is played by Chad Allen (Matthew from Dr. Quin Medicine Woman). In order: Third Man Out, Shock to the System, On the Other Hand, Death, Ice Blues.

I also enjoyed Hate Crime, though it is sad it has a powerful message. It is a bit of a murder mystery with an "Eye for an Eye" (1996, Sally Field) feel.

Agreed. The potential eclipsed the product. That is precisely why I mentioned 'spoof'. I meant 'spoof of a movie' not 'spoof' in general. It still had its moments, though, for all the flaws.
 
It's been 40 years, but nothing has ever topped "Boys In The Band", the wittiest, most-quotable film since Casablanca.

It is a sweet movie. And the actors who play the two main characters are finally beginning to find some success in mainstream American TV. Wes Ramsay (Christian) has a recurring role on CSI:Miami, and Steven Sandvoss (Aaron) has made appearances on Grey's Anatomy (as the husband of a patient) and on Miami Medical (as the husband of a patient). Weird type-casting? ;)

The movie really had some strong acting, and I hope they all find major success.

Oh, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who played one of the other "elders" and was a star in TV's "Third Rock from the Sun") has made his support of LGBT rights very well known, as I recall.
