I'm not a fan of violence, including in movies, but I do enjoy the comedies. One of my favorites is Return Of The Living Dead

What is your favorite Halloween movie?

I have two:

The Haunting (1963 version) - Not one I would recommend watching with all the lights turned off. You never see the ghosts in the movie, but, believe me, you'll start looking over your shoulder!

The Changeling - If you can get beyond George C. Scott playing a piano, you should enjoy this one. It's a horror movie with an interesting twist - and more than a few nail-biting moments.

I myself have never been to big a fan of the modern horror/slasher flick. They tend to make me rather uncomfortable. That being said...

The Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1956)
I love this movie because even now I find the concept of being "replaced" very creepy. And I dig the whole "Red Scare" analogy. A product of its time.

The Thing (1982)
This is the John Carpenter remake and I remember just being scared and enjoying it. Mind you I was 12 at the time and I loved the whole thing about being marooned in the arctic. And for what its worth, I loved the original as well. Lots of fun.

Alien (1979)
I saw this one on cable about the same time I saw The Thing. Man... I loved this one! It was creepy, moody and it had twists and turns! And one of the coolest things was that you never really saw what that alien looked like. It was always in the dark and in the shadows and that just amped up the creep factor!

umm the only one that gives me nightmares everytime is...

childs play

so i'm gonna say that one is my favorite... well maybe any of the jaws movies... since sharks scare the shit outta me..

"Salem's Lot" (1979 version)

Here here !!

That is the scariest F-ing movie..... I didn't sleep for days.

Add to that:

Night of the Lving Dead (the original)

The Exorcist

Evil Dead, both one and two

Re-Animator

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (again, the original)

And...Give 'Friday the 13th' (the first one) another chance... It's fairly
creepy in it's own way.

As well as the first 'Nightmare on Elm Street'

the first horror movie I saw was "Psyco" I was baby sitting my aunt and uncles kids, and it scared me to death. I was glad when they came home, I was about 12 I think. "Friday the 13th," NOT 2, or 3, or 15, the first one, gave me a few jump and chills. I agree with"Alien," it was a scary ass movie!! A funny one is "Shawn of the Dead!!"

"Salem's Lot" (1979 version)

"Amityville Horror" (1979)

"Stepford Wives" (1975)

I completely forgot about Salem's Lot!

Oh that one scared the hell out of me. What really got me was when that kid's friend was floating outside of his window, all vampire and shit and he's scratching on the glass and asking to be let in. Eeek!

I remember in college it popped up on the late night movie and sure enough, it was that scene. I kept telling myself to switch it off or I wouldn't be able to sleep. Sure enough, I stayed up all night too spooked to sleep. ;)

Agreed, GL....

There's just *something* about that movie.

Yeah, the audio was 'tweeked with' But, it's still scary as all get out...

Gawd, it creeps me out just thinking about it...

Wanna snuggle ? ;)

Carrie

ultimate act of revenge for being different.

RIP Nancy Allen.

OK, so not even a movie, but all of the Simpson's episodes dealing with Halloween.

Near Dark, a really haunting vampire movie. I used to watch it every Halloween.

But of course Night of the Living Dead (original version) is the scariest movie ever.
