What are your favorite soundtracks? I have many but these are my favs:

Donnie Darko (Director's Cut)

I love Mad World by Michael Andrews.

My favorite soundtracks (In no particular order) are:
O' Brother Where Art Thou?

Garden State

Any Quentin Tarantino movie soundtrack, most specifically Reservoir Dogs

Dark Days - It's a little known documentary about bums living in the NY City tunnels with an original soundtrack produced by DJ Shadow. The entire movie is very depressing.

Any Chan-Wook Park movie soundtrack, most specifically Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. He incorporates a lot of classical and modern age [somewhat] techno like music and it sounds GREAT!

Idlewild - I haven't seen the movie, as it hasn't come out yet, but the soundtrack is amazing. Lots of blues, jazz and swing fused with hip-hop.

Also noteable mentions for TV soundtracks:
Scrubs (Tons of awesome tunes that you wouldn't normally find on your own)

&

Whistler (A newer show on The-N. You can currently download all of the songs they play in the episodes from their website, again some great tunes you wouldn't normally find)

and there's tons more I can't think of. These are just off the top of my head.

Absolutely The Lord of the Rings!!!

Howard Shore's music for that is without peer, especially The Two Towers.

Rent!!!

Without a doubt it's my fave!

So many great lyrics with great music. :D

Scream
The Crow
Purple Rain
The Lost Boys
Reality Bites

For sheer atmospheric menace, the Aliens soundtrack was fantastic. And the thumping bass which drove the key scenes throughout The Hole was a touch of genius.

I think ALL my fav's have been named ^ above; except for "Somewhere In Time"!! It's an ALL instrumental sound-track and just about one of the MOST soothing tune(s) one can imagine!!

Give it a shot when you are just reading and NOT wanting to listen to words; but just nice, relaxing, notes!!

I know, I know, some will call it "elevator-music"!lol(*8*) (*8*)

The soundtrack to the film Singles is in my Top 5 albums of all time - most of the big Seattle bands make an appearance on the album and in the movie, with the exeption of Nirvana, for some reason.

-d-

Probably because they weren't a grunge band like everything else - sans Jimi Hendrix.
And it was sad about Mother Lovebone: the singer had to overdose before they could really get going.

My favourite soundtracks:
DANCER IN THE DARK
singles
subUrbi@
Brokeback Mountain (the score)
Motorcycle Diaries (the score)
Everything is Illuminated
Empire Records
Lost Highway
Summer Storm
Magnolia
Chicago
Ghost World
The Royal Tenenbaums
The Girl Next Door

And V for Vendetta has Cat Power and Antony and the Johnsons.

I like Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Aspects of Love--- and I still listen to Evita every once in a while!

Oh, Wow! What a lot of great movie soundtracks!

I echo Elvin's love of The Hunger's soundtrack... richly eerie Baroque pieces, a little Romantic opera, some Goth rock, and some quite simply chilling ambient music. A classic!

And Hedwig & the Angry Inch is another wonderful film soundtrack. The movie was so amazing.

But my absolute favorite has to be Cowboy Bebop: Future Blues. Absolutely the best movie soundtrack ever.

Honorable mentions go to Trick, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Charlie's Angels, and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.

I'm not even going to start with my favorite B'way soundtracks.

Juliet of the Spirits

Slobone, I thought I was the only one who knew what that was! Such a weird carvival-esque soundtrack.

Also Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, 54, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Casino, Goodfellas, Mean Streets, Natural Born Killers, Munich, Zabriskie Point
