Favorite Thanksgiving dish???

My famous Cranberry fruit jello mold, I made 2 this year my family eats it like it was the last thing they'll ever eat!

*don't like turkey either blacksyringe

While I must admit to loving most of the traditional dishes, I think my favourite is baked butternut squash. If properly prepared, with cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamon, it tastes fantastic!

My Mom's wild rice stuffing.

<turn away, vegans>

Imagine if you will... Wild rice all "dirtied up" with chunks of hot Italian sausage and hamburger and sliced water chestnuts and sauteed crimini mushrooms and all sorts of mysterious seasonings all mixed together into one giant bowl of thigh-expanding happiness...

Made all the better of course by a big ladle of fresh turkey gravy poured over the top.

*Heaven*

The bird becomes the vehicle for cooking the stuffing.
The whole smorgasbord is great.
We made two stuffings for years - my mom in-law's is a bread/ground beef browned then stuffed in the bird.

I make a Wild Rice/Sausage stuffing -
2 boxes Uncle Ben's Wild Rice Stuffing (20 min version)
Cut 1/2 cup water from total (3.5, not 4)
1 lb Bob Evan's breakfast sausage, browned
At the 15 minute mark, add the sausage to the rice, continue to cook to absorb water. Add 1/2 Cup good Cream Sherry to rice sausage mixture, stir well.

When rice has absorbed all liquid, squeeze in a shot of lemon juice, stir.

Can cook in Bird or in a casserole. If you have it, use turkey or chicken stock instead of water.

Based on familial votes, my stuffing is preferred over the bread pretty much universally.

Fairly easy to make, tastes great.

I cannot choose between these 3

Cornbread Dressing, Sweet Potatoes, Honey Ham with Pecan brown sugar glaze

I use my Great Grandmothers German stuffing recipe. Everything is made completely from scratch. I made the bread on Saturday which has been cut into cubes and is laid out to dry. Tomorrow evening it will be turned into stuffing ready for the bird first thing Thursday morning.

I love dirty rice... and other dirty things.

Chocolate pie--my grandmother's recipe--too rich for me now, but I enjoy making it. . .
