Re: Tom Petty dead

Very sad to hear, loved a lot of his music. Didn't he join the Traveling Wilburys after Roy Orbison died suddenly?

Ironically, their biggest hit was "End of the Line" in 1989.

RIP Tom

Petty was the last to join but was still with them from the beginning. He and the great Orbison were in the band together---both dying of heart attacks as it turns out

Re: Tom Petty dead

Another one gone.

Re: Tom Petty dead

Monty Hall died as well at 96.

Re: Tom Petty dead

I loved his Super Bowl halftime show a few seasons ago. No gimmicks and great rock.

No, he joined it before. Roy Orbison was never replaced. Their first album was with five members, the second with four: Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, George Harrison (apparently the band leader), Roy Orbison and Bob Dylan. Eric Clapton was involved behind the screens, as producer or something.

I'm a great Beatles fan, that's how I know the band. I wasn't into the music of the other members at all. No Dylan, No Orbison, only George Harrison and Clapton.

Re: Tom Petty dead

Tom Petty was an excellent musician, entertainer, & rock & roll star.

Re: Tom Petty dead

Tom Petty, rest in peace!

He and I share the same birth date (but in different years). :D

Re: Tom Petty dead

Rest In Peace Tom Petty . . . and "don't back down!"
