Favorite TV Show Theme Songs

The Mary Tyler Moore Show

The Nanny

I Love Lucy

MASH (Suicide Is Painful)

Cheers

I really like the jazz instrumental theme from Will and Grace, but it doesn't have lyrics, as far as I know.

Dragon Ball Z
Facts of Life
Freakazoid!
Yu Yu Hakusho
Tiny Toon Adventures
Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers

This second version was way better than the first one:

This was just catchy:

And my tongue hurts just listening to this one:

Looked at the latest posts and realized I only considered sitcoms, because their theme songs usually have lyrics.

As for dramas:

Peter Gunn

The Twilight Zone

Dynasty

Mission Impossible

Peyton Place

Ones mentioned above, that are among my favorites:

The Young And the Restless
Magnum P. I. (and GL, you couldn't have known how much I'd agree with your comment as well...)

And five favorites which nobody else happened to list - generally they happen to belong to shows I liked, as well.

Star Trek: The Next Generation

Get Smart!

Married, With Children

My #2 of all time...Superman

My #1 of all time...Murder She Wrote

The strange exception to "my rule" is that I did NOT like "Murder She Wrote" all that much - I just simply don't "do" mysteries...and yet it's my favorite theme.

I'm surprized no one posted this yet...

Thunda Thunda Thunda Cats!

(It was more exciting than the rest of the show).

I'll take:

Cheers
Miami Vice
Big Bang Theory
Damages
Friday Night Lights (don't watch the show, but that guitar's tone is beautiful)

#1 The Munsters

Eerie Indiana:

The Odd Couple:

The Littlest Hobo:

Welcome Back, Kotter:

Thirty Something:

Smallville:

I also loved the theme music to the sitcom, Dream On but there aren't any youtube vids of it.

Ah, guys...thanks for reminding me of other favorites I'd forgotten about...

The Littlest Hobo
The Jetsons
Green Acres
Gilligan's Island

(and, not mentioned yet??) The Beverly Hillbillies

The Twilight Zone (TWO DIFFERENT ones here...because there were two great versions decades apart!)

clearly this is no longer a Top Five, there's just too many to narrow it down that thoroughly, but, ACTUALLY, I just realized I made a terrible omission, and Superman wouldn't be my #2 favorite but, instead, this:

dang-it...I forgot another one that I thought was way cool...

Well...this one didn't have much meaning because it's an instrumental. But I really love it. It makes me happy every time I hear it.

Visually, Dexter's is still one of the best most thought-out and well-realized openings in TV history.

It's even studied in film classes.
