On Topic Discussion FDA Lifting Lifetime Ban on Gay Blood Donors

Here's a more recent update:

Covid have the FDA a swift kick in the nether regions to changed the rules.

The deferral period us now 3 months since you last had intimate relations with another male.

They did add PrEP to their medicines that defer you, because it can mask an infection (never mind that its purpose is to PREVENT infections...

The Red Cross and other blood collecting organizations are working to get even more reasonable regs - particularly for men in a monogamous relationship where both partners are HIV free.

That's the update from about a year ago.

Many countries don't want your blood if you've stayed in the UK for 6 months or longer within the past 30 years.

Hi, guys.
3 months is still the current deferral.

And, yes, living in the UK for an extended period of time is a deferral - fears about Mad Cow Disease, which can hide for decades, are still out there.

There is a pilot study going in and blood collectors and monogamous gay people and the FDA.

Im still an Apheresis donor - over 350 lifetime donations.

My blood is better traveled than I am.
