I watch the national and local news every day, and I've never heard about this mobile x-ray technology before. I just accidentally ran across it on YouTube a few minutes ago, much to my surprise. It looks like what was left of privacy in the U.S. has really gone to hell.

This one gives a much more detailed description of the technology that's used:

I feel much safer now, knowing that a van can drive by and X-ray me to find out whether I'm hiding any carbon, nitrogen, or hydrogen!

Would it help me find my wallet or car keys?

After being exposed to manufacturing a string of phony videos, I wouldn't believe anything shown on Fox News.

I'm okay with it, so long as they are only using it to catch criminals and save people.

It can also detect stowaways hiding in the trunk of your car who are decreasing your gas mileage. :)

Would it help me find my wallet or car keys?

I'm sure a commercial version of the van will be available soon to help people find misplaced items. :)

"Hah...I'd like to see them try to get that van up my drive way!" :rotflmao:

*senses the need for a tow-truck...*

Soon, specially equipped planes will undoubtedly be available that can fly over cities and peer inside hundreds of houses at the same time.

But the second video is not affiliated with Fox News in any way, it was produced by the manufacturer of the technology.

I'm okay with it, so long as they are only using it to catch criminals and save people.

But that's not the only thing they're using it for. They're also using it to indiscriminately violate the privacy of the masses while looking for needles in haystacks.

Mobile x-ray radiation van. That's a mobile radiation emitting device. Sounds harmful to health.

I took my mum to the hospital to get an x-ray of her joints - I did the translation - and they placed a lead jacket over me to cover my genitals and chest area.

I would expect radiation that can penetrate solid objects such as cars be more stronger than radiation used to peer through fleshy humans. If I needed lead insulation for my gonads, then isn't this public irradiation of the public going to lead to health problems?

I hope there is going to be a ruckus about this.

 at the way you word your subject titles.

I'm starting to know which threads are yours without even checking the username.

I should try to get a job as a headline writer at a tabloid. :)

They can drive by my house and listen for hours I really don't care, I've got nothing to hide - besides I've always liked a little exhibition.

The technology isn't used to listen to you, at least not yet; they just X-ray you like they do at airports.

RE: "besides I've always liked a little exhibition"

Then every time you hear a van drive by your house, you should bend over and spread your cheeks apart, because it could be them checking you out. :p

A fishing boat on wheels.

And no doubt, some of the operators of the equipment will be using it to drive by crowds of people to see who's got the biggest dick, etc. "Oh fuck, check out that hot chick... drive by her next so I can see her vagina."

The manufacturer claims your radiation exposure from one of these vans scanning you is equivalent to the radiation you'd be exposed to by flying in a plane for 15 minutes. But since the X-rays can penetrate metal etc., I don't believe that for a second. And look at all the people who opt out of airport X-ray screening... they choose the pervy pat-down search of their genitals to avoid radiation exposure; yet they have no way of opting out of surreptitious drive-by scans.
