  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Feeling immense gratitude for what older generations have done for us.

CA just recently passed an overhaul of it's state public school curriculum to include lessons on LGBT history. And even in CA, there was backlash.

Good to hear! A step in the right direction.

I can't believe I almost skipped this thread because I thought it'd be a bunch of pleasant, shoulders-of-giants platitudes. Thankfully, we can bring negativity and name-calling even into those threads. God bless ya, JUB. :)

To be fair, I didn't learn ANY of this in School either. What I know, I learned later on my own.

Obama is a smart man. A friend of mine was tearing into him about speaking out on Gay rights.... it was a perfect moment for me to correct him AND let him see who I really am. Despite all the political opposition, Obama is another pivotal point in history for ALL of us.

Except for the ladies of the Seneca Falls Convention. None of them died, so their contributions are unimpressive.

LOL

Well, thinking that we got handed in a plate what so many had to fight to have, we are very lucky, but if we think that so many years ago civilizations of thinkers and fighters like ancient Greece and ancient Rome accepted homosexuality as a natural act, that wasn't distinguished by the orientation of the relation but by the paper each guy represented, it's very silly to think that those people had to fight for something that men had before, as a natural right, and that is, still, not very well accepted in a lot of places and cultures.

Women get the short end of the stick here, by that time their rights weren't that many, at least in the equality field, in ancient Greece it most seems that the society was designed to keep them away to give room to man-on-man action :p

I was bemoaning the fact that you hadn't heard of Selma or Seneca.

NO, you were just an asshole! Plain and simple. Maybe read your statement again and face your ignorance in your own words.

The way people are being rude especially coming from one troll... it's just sickening. He's willing to learn about past events... and schools these days don't do enough. Often, Queer studies is taught only at colleges.

There is no need for this kind of batshit attitude towards another poster. Pay no attention to the trolls, 123kid. They are lonely people who don't have anything better going on with their lives. It's a sad existence.

Thank you so much my friend.

Today I watched a documentary on King Arthur. Ill admit it. I thought that the man was real. Yes, I felt a little silly but atleast l learned something today.

There was a King Arthur, but nothing to do with the Arthurian myth.
