This is a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year especially for the guys who are scared, isolated and alone. For any of you feeling neglected or lonely do attempt to realize that there is a fellowship of people world-wide who can identify with you and can give moral support.

Our stories are all different yet contain the common thread of the self discovery that we were different from most of the other boys. We came to that awareness alone and sometimes kept the secret for as long as a lifetime.

The renewal of the New Year can be a time when you realize that thanks to the internet you can virtually connect with gay and bi men from around the world.

No matter your circumstance try to celebrate that. For some it might be the only ray of hope, but nonetheless it is there for you.

Stay alert for depression. We don't need to lose you before you have a chance to see a difference and perhaps make a difference.

May next year truly be a happy year. I know I'm not the only person who cares what happens to you.

My partner is already gone off to work and he'll be working tonight, my parents are in England visiting so I thought I'd be by myself tonight and it got me kinda sad.

Well, it's not going to be like that. In the morning I got a call from one of my brothers (he stopped talking to me since he found out I was gay and told me to stay away from his kids since I was a bad influence -that was a long time ago), short story he was crying and made me cry and told me he loved me and that we will always be brothers no matter what and that I was more than welcome to go to his place for Christmas and stay the weekend. For all of you feeling isolated and lonely tonight just remember that things get better and change as time goes by and Christmas is just the time for them to change.

I wish everyone of you a very happy Christmas and a better 2011.

Amends making either on one's part or by a family member or acquaintance is the best gift of all. I'm so glad your brother did it now while you still have time to enjoy what it means. Some people have to do what he did graveside. I often say as long as we are breathing there is hope.

For me Christmas is the day when your family walks out on you. For what I am, I'm a disgrace, I've "ruined the family".

So all I have at Christmas is my mom, who won't let any of my siblings visit any more if they won't be nice to me -- and they won't set foot in her house if I'm here, anyway.

I feel isolated, sad, and lonely a lot. Holidays make it more noticeable. Nothing as lonely as spending Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years alone. Not even a sleeping city side walk, and Sunday morning coming down...
 
Thanks so much this means alot! I have felt lonely for the past couple months. I have been out for over a year. So when i started feeling lonely at the end of october I started trying the online dating scene. Thanks for this post. It means a lot! Everyone have a great christmas and an amazing new years eve!

I'm also alone this christmas. Not that i don't have anyone, but i lost my best friends when i came out. That was 2 months ago, so didn't have much time to socialize before christmas =P It really does mean a lot to read this when you're alone!

sorry to hear that. Its gotta be tough. True friends are pretty rare.
