Alabaster, your music sounds great. I'd love to hear any material that you'd be willing to share.
Hiya Windex
Thanks for that, man! I'm working so much on guitar these days that I really just haven't had the want-to when it comes to recording. Seems like it's either that or the studio's a wreck (which it still is, btw) or my guitar's come down with a sudden case of Denge (sp?) fever...
Soon though. I've got everything ready to plug in except my two main speakers, and I don't use those for recording until my post-mastering level checks (over-ear headphones, earbuds, in-ear monitors, computer speakers, car speakers, home stereo system, stage sound system, stage wedge monitors, anything Bose makes...etc. etc.). You'd be amazed by the variance; I've noticed huge differences between even the most common brands around these days.
I learned that lesson the hard way after a demo came back from the studio with no bass in it...literally, lol, none. The guy had somehow mastered four songs without noticing a subwoofer hooked up to the playback rig. I felt awful for the guy actually, 'cause everything else had obviously been hand polished - that attention to detail takes hours per song...but still. Free demo, yay. Free demo without bass (aka me!), boo.
If you're familiar with this thread, you'll notice I'm an obsessive perfectionist - even when recording a song with nothing but a headset microphone. (These Days Will Last on the MySpace page, no kidding) There are also some videos on MySpace and Youtube (user: DrewBtunes). I still have so much to do though...sigh.
The open tunings are still going great, moved from a wide-open DADAAD drone-based tuning to the more common DADGAD, although the scales aren't any easier for me than standard EADGBE. I'm just not wired that way on guitar I guess.
I've been playing bass again as well, though, trying to get back my left-hand stretch. I should post a picture of my left hand in a couple weeks if I keep playing regularly. It's pretty surreal. Now that I've got a decent sound rig I've been playing with my iTunes on shuffle, just getting my old tricks, runs, and riffs remembered. Related note: I don't know if it's just s'posed to be minimalist, but I can run laps around Lady Gaga's bass player in Bad Romance, lol. Maybe I'll record a video of that...
I'm behind on work already, so I'll leave the ramble at that (for now...hehe).
Take care you guys and thanks again!
