There will most likely be no indictment for Officer Darren Wilson's interaction with Michael Brown. Will you be on a bus protesting?

I'm going to be hiding in the basement.

Seriously, I don't know whether all the national guard troops and stepped up security are a provocation or a deterrence. But I can tell you everyone in the entire city and county are scared. Massive violence seems to be expected and they are preparing for it.

I won't be shocked when a no verdict is handed down and all I'll say about the response will be this, I hope they learned something from last time.
Tanks and military gear will NOT defuse crowds.

This whole thing is a huge miscarriage of justice even if it turns out the officer involved did nothing wrong. Grand juries are NOT supposed to determine guilt or innocence, even though that's exactly how the state of Missouri is handling this. I hope this comes back to bite them on the ass, and the people who decide dto pursue this route lose their jobs.

Tanks are at some point going to encourage people to use Molotov cocktails. I wouldn't blame them. Give cops tanks and they're no longer police, they're an occupying army.

No but my boyfriend keeps kidding that whatever the outcome is win/win. That cop will be locked up, he doesn't get locked up and will be in hiding/possibly of us getting free shit because you know riots are gonna happen here in la. lols.

Then why have Grand Juries? They serve a purpose in our justice system and one is to prevent an innocent person from being railroaded. If it is plain to the Grand Jury that there is not enough evidence to justify inditing this man then that's far better than spending years and large amounts of taxpayer dollars in both criminal and public court trying this man to reach the same result and get the same riots and outcry afterward magnified by 10.

There is no sense in this violence. The grand jury's decision should be based on a careful review of the facts. The facts may, or may not show that the officer should be charged with murder. Threatening to do violence, just because you don't get the grand jury decision you want, ignores the need to get to the truth based on facts. I am aware of the past problems with the police in that area, and the public has a reason for concern, but let this play out in accordance to the law and respect the decision of the grand jury. Justice must be blind, and fueled by nothing but truth.

CBS is reporting that the grand jury has reached a decision, which will be announced later today.

Michael Brown's family has been informed of the decision.

^So they're making this pay per view level TV then, announcing this verdict like it's must see TV?

Well isn't that special. Wake me when the fires die down.

Rhetorical Question: If Michael Brown had in some way killed Darren Wilson in self defense, by accident, or whatever the circumstance, would we be wondering about whether he would be charged? FUCK NO!!!!! Poor Michael Brown wasn't safe in jail like so many millions of young Black males. He was free...free range, that is.

Therein lies the problem. Ferguson, MO, GODDAMN! I remember the riots after Rodney King was BEATEN...B E A T E N!!!!! Those white officers didn't KILL Rodney King. Michael Brown is FUCKIN DEAD for Chrissake! One could not be shocked and unbelieving if the response across the country in this case were proportional.

Really don't understand the US system. Surely there must be enough of a case for it to be put to a judge and jury in a trial?
If the outcome is no trial, then what are the chances of the officer who shot dead a 12 year old kid who was armed with a toy gun when it seems shooting unarmed adults is OK (as long as they are black).

The delay in announcing the verdict until 9pm really suggests that he will get away with it and they hope that it being cold outside will keep any rioting to a minimum (although I assume the mollys will warm the place up quick enough).

To me, the evidence and police animus was proven, when they let his body LIE IN THE STREET FOR FOUR AND A HALF FUCKING HOURS and wouldn't let EMT's or anybody else near.

Police TERRORISM against the citizens that they hate.

Yeah, this alone is suspect - but that part of the story is about as hidden(or buried, whichever you prefer) as the cops' whereabouts, even though the media couldn't help themselves to tell us the man is getting married.

Just how long does it take for a cop to call in a justified shooting? 3, 4, 5 seconds? Not calling in something like this for HOURS... is scary.

Yawn...we can blame the media mainly for the frenzy that this was/will be.

Yupp. Like I said in my first post in this thread, wake me when the fires die down. Not a shocker.

No indictment. Disappointing, but not surprising. It's amazing how many people fail to see through this bullshit, and think this is how the justice sytem is actually supposed to work.

The delay is part of an agreement between the city and the local school districts to not announce the result for at least 3 hours after the schools were dismissed to allow time for all the children in school to get home safely before the riots start.
