Fictional Killing of Bush Causes Stir

Thank you for your insightful, keen observations. Makes me want to rush right over to Hot Topics to read more.

There's no need to get like that, dear. I was simply trying to put over a bit of common sense, practical advice so that this fictional film didn't upset you anymore than it already has.

Don't mind me - carry on your ranting.

Now, how you consider this "practical advice" mystifies me.

And how you can get so uptight about a fictional film that you haven't seen yet mystifies me too.

According to More4 and Channel 4, the film is not promoting or endorsing the assassination of Bush, the shooting plays a small part at the beginning of the film - the real 'meat' of the film is the aftermath of Bush's passing and a 'post-mortem' examination of his policies - something I thought someone like yourself would enjoy?

I stand by the advice that if you don't fancy watching it, there are hundreds of other channels to choose from.

A scene from the More4 drama Death Of A President, which portrays the assassination of President George W Bush at a Chicago rally in 2007. The White House has refused to comment on the programme, saying "it does not justify a response".

I see the Red Coats -- whom we soundly thrashed, mind you, kicking them to the curb with little effort and never once regretting our decision -- think it's just swell to see an American president snuffed. I guess I'd be bitter, too, if my country became a second-world power and my prime minister embarrassed the nation by becoming a toady, a sidekick lackey, a silly yapping lap dog.

However, in reality, I guess that it matters very little. President Bush will not be assassinated, considering that he is on the same side as the gun nuts. On another note however, all the U.S. presidents to be assassinated (Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley and Kennedy) were all elected on a year ending in 0. This does not bode well for President Bush.

Perhaps we now know why "snuff films" are produced. Obviously there is a market for such. And that is a sad commentary on our society.

I've heard about this.

In my mind the film has nothing "profound" to convey in a message, except to fantasize wishful thinking by foreign filmmakers who have an unhealthy obsession of hating George W. Bush.

Its tacky. But what can you do? It fails if everyone ignores it.

The assassination of a President is no laughing matter. No matter how much I dislike Bush, I would never want to see him assassinated. He represents the executive power of our nation, and the result to the American psyche would be devastating if he were killed.

For G-D's sake! Get a grip everyone. This is a piece of writing, and we do have freedom of speech here in Europe and the United States (or do we?). From the sound of some of your comments, it sounds as if there is no free speech. The film may be in bad taste, but it should not be pulled from the cinemas or television wherever it is being shown.

There are porno films which I do not care for and that I feel are in extremely poor taste; however, I don't believe that they should be yanked from the shelves of stores and burned.

Some of the comments in this post are very dangerous. Read John Milton's "Areopagetica" and then think as to whether or not you wish to make some of the comments you are making.....
