I am learning about tribalism and heirarchy here at JUB.

theres the guys that hang out in the celeb forum who never go anywhere else.... there are they nudie guys that all post and encourage others as they post nudes...theres a cranky curmudgeon tribe that I wont name names on... well they are cranky and I don;t want them to yell at me again.... Jayden/Elvin have a hunter tribe seeking out those that ought to go away... all the sock puppet obsession...... Sloppyseconds... well to be honest I cant quite figure out him or his followers. the pols in CE&P have their three or four coalitions... then there are the rogues and loners, who in spite of their loner identity seem to still gave their own tribe of support....Illgetbi has his light and fluffy fun tribe...thats just a fe wmore noticeable in the last few days..... ravenstar and the nice crowd who seem to look for and find the good in most....

I have been pecking around posting in all of the forums trying to find my place and I don't think I want to be part of just one. I find a bit of value in all of them.

There are the elder statesmen and bleeding deacons.... they pop out to say something is not new and it will be repeated again later, then disapear. Sort of like the Oracle in the Matrix.

so is it posible to just have fun here without having to pick a side and fight with one of the other ones?

Can I interact with all of them without being jumped by one of the other tribes?

As for the heirarchy.... it is difficult to figure but it exists. there are people that have sway and there are people that do not with the people in control of the whole thing.

I just want to have fun. at the risk of pulling a queer Rodney King....lol.... is it posible for me to just be my own guy and enjoy all of them ?

I think it is a testament that this site has recreated the gay community in microcosm. Well done.

but I am having a hard time because I dont want to be in a tribe.

BostonPirate, you certainly don't need to be in a tribe or clique to fit in.

I don't consider myself part of any group, and I've received VERY kind and supportive words from MANY JUBbers.

If you're just honest and yourself (which I have no doubt you are) then you'll get along fine.

And from what I've seen, I think you're managing that easily.

I don't really take much notice of any 'tribalism' here nowadays; it all seems very mild compared to what this place was like years ago. I remember, when I first joined, being 'neg-repped' en masse because I dared to disagree with one of the grand old dames and her cronies ...all long gone now ...most of them banned I think.

Just be yourself and ignore the current, transient, hive-minded groups.

I stepped on some toes in CE&P...lol. But they put them out there and dare you to stomp them, to be honest, and then say "how dare you!!!"

But the CE&P gets beaten up on as uncivil, when there is often just as much yelling in the celebrities forum....over who has the biggest dick or if a fake picture is real or not.... HA but. that's the heirarchy thing i mean.

there are some groups that its ok to kick around here.

This is my (current) real sign in.

I've had loads of different names here over the past nearly-six years. Whenever I get bored of my screen name, or just want a bit of anonymity, I simply delete my account and re-register. I'm not interested in post-counts, membership dates, or any of that irrelevant trivia, so that method works fine for me.

I think its worth noting that you always see 6 or 7 times as many guys in Celeb or Man/Porn than in HT or CE. I have not even gone into CE because gay fascists bother me (and I hope they all die). Celeb seems mostly harmless to me - it has an Entertainment Tonight feel - gossip and pics of skinny guys on tv shows I'ven ever seen.

And so that leaves HT, which I like because I have a bunch of random thoughts and i like to see what random stuff is in other people's heads. But I will soon get bored and move on to something else. Its been more than a week since I had a crush so maybe a new guy will come along and hold my attention. And perhaps we can exchange random thoughts.

There is no hierarchy.

Everyone loves everyone.

Some newbies sometimes get a rough ride at the outset if they are too rambunctious for the old dogs around them, but a lot of them get hooked on the site and decide it is a great way to waste their days and nights.

As far as the puppets and trolls go, there have been some who have created real problems on the boards and to prevent JUB from becoming like those other totally fatuous and unreadable/unfriendly environments, let's just say that certain measures had to be taken and you shouldn't ask about the mounds in the JUB garden out back.

We rarely get the extremists here any more; they have all been stabilized on their meds or modified with duct tape and won't be faking their own deaths or manipulating JUBBERS anymore.

Yup we've seen 'em all.

Enjoy the endless hours of fun.

I don't belong to any 'tribe'. I've made some good friends here at JUB.

Interaction can start with a comment on one of your posts, an odd Private Message and before you know it you exchange emails and you've got a friend.

And the world is your oyster.

Even a spat here in JUBland can end in a friendship when you converse in private.

Of course there are the odd bod I've avoided, but I've never had anyone on ignore. And there are some entertaining drama's which I find, well, very entertaining from in front of my computer monitor! - better than the telly!

People come and go here but I can truly say that I do feel a bit of love (yeh, I know it sounds corny - Not THE Corny) for more than a few JUBbers after all this time. People here become so familiar, and part of my life to me.

I'm glad I found this place anyway.
