Final Fantasy XII Help

What's VS?

Either way, FFT is one of my favorites. There's a glitch in the original PSX version though that lets you accrue 9999 experience points for certain jobs if you work it right.

Vs= Final Fantasy Versus

I'm playing the PSP version of tactics. I'm not sure if it will work for that it though. Also, is there a way to keep chocobos from recovering health. The game feels unbalanced with them healing every enemy on the field without loss to Mp or Hp. Its like they have unlimited health.

Your best bet is to just target them first. Take the yellow chocobos out first, since they have ChocoCure, and then reds because they have ChocoMeteor, which can do a lot of damage.

There's no way to stop them from using their own abilities, but what you can do is either focus all your attacks on them until they die or use a slow kill ability like Doom, Stone, or a status ability like NoAct.

I DO have FF: IX, as well as VIII. And last August, I wandered into the Sony store at Metrotown asking about a PS1 memory card (you can't play it on the PS2 without it due to the coding for saving I figure) and after an inventory check for all their stores in the lower mainland, found ONE in a store in Langley over an hour's transit ride via skytrain and bus. :)

The store I was in called the Langely store to confirm that it was there, and I made the purchase and they put the card away for me until I got that way to pick it up.

We're set therefore. :)

I started X last night while the Narny was out scampering about with her friends and have just barely gotten into it. The sphere grid looks unnecessarily complicated at first glance (I've just gone through the in game tutorial) and activated Cheer but I'm sure with use it'll be second nature. I'm just on the ship after the boss battle in which Rikku shows up and helps. So I've JUST started. I've not even done the "dive" yet as the Narny came in with her friend and wanted to show her FF: XII. The friend has FF: X and says a lot of good things about it.

I'm young with technology illiterate parents of 57 years old, I find it strange when people of the over 50's already having a good crasp of "new" things. I apologies if I ever patronise you due to this >_>.

But great to see you've played FFIX :D. Also I hope you didn't do what my friend did and picked expert sphere grid. Silly, silly fool. He ended up starting again but never liked it after his sphere grid mix up. If you've played FFVII and IX, X should be a since for you. Thats X's main problem (especially if you have the Americna version) its a wee bit easy.

Squares decided that whoring your games like a dirty pimp is the best policy and as such are already making as many FFXIII themed games as they possibly can even before FFXIII has hit the Japanese market. At least with the others they decided to wait to see how ti was recieved before whoring. Kinda makes me apprehensive about the whole FFXIII sega. However I don't know why because it seems FFXII and FF vs XIII are on PS3 exclusively (well FFXIII definatly seems exclusive not sure about vs, give me a sec ... silly internet seems to be slow today ... yes exclusive to PS3) with the other game announced for mobile phones so there's a 98% chance I wont be playing any of the FFXIII titles ever. Why FFXII was so disappointing cause I knew I wouldn't be playing a main title FF for a while. Oh well.

Despite my views of the game I do hope you enjoy playing FFXII and X pianist ^_^.

Strange am I? Well, I have my moments. :)

I've always been a bit of a tech geek...I even know a little html for use on my bare bones site. I have a frriend, about ten years older than I am who, when he moved into his last house, wired the whole thing through his 'puter, lights, jets in his hot tub, you name it.

In fact, because he didn't like "wasting" electricity, he built a heat exchange from his hot water tank to the hot tub so he wouldn't have to use the tubs electric heater except on the odd occasion company dropped in and he needed the water brought up to proper temp quickly. :)

But no need to apologize, I wasn't offended.

And who says people of over 60 are only good for working in B&Q. Rubbish!

like to get a feel for a game and how it controls etc. before I start mucking about with options so, no worries there. As far as I know, the copy I have is the American version.

I've heard that games coming to North America can be dumbed down, and I know Squaresoft - Enix has done that with other FF games.

Well its basically the same game but the American version doesn't have the Dark Aeons nor the ultimate boss Penance, so you onyl have the monster arena creation to aspire to beat once you've finished the game. No idea why they wouldn't add optional content to the American version.

I wasn't sure about XII at first as there seemed to be an inordinate amount of dungeon crawling but it happened that every time I looked in on the Narny while she was playing, she was purposely leveling up and so doing a lot of hack and slash.

Since, I've peeked in on her when she's NOT concentrating on that and it seems like it'll be okay. I have put in about 10 some odd hours in on it already and am beginning to enjoy it.

FFXII is quite a bit of a grind quite a bit fo the time. Oh sure you'll cruise threw the levels killing enemies with ease, except flying ones if your only long ranged weapon user if also your white mage. But once you get to the boss BAM! Ass raping with a battering ram and you got to go back and slug threw easy ass enemies for hours to get enough experience to only get a mild pummeling. That was a massive gripe of mine at FFXII, the difficulty change from level enemies and bosses.

However, I think while the Nary focusses on XII, I'll see what X has to offer and concentrate gameplay on that for a while. :) I've got a number of Wii titles I'm in the middle of as well...RE 4, Metroid Prime: Corruption, and I STILL haven't finished The Legend of Zeld: The Twilight Princess.

I play in binges with large gaps in between. :)

Got to ask: Whats a Nary. It seems to like using electrical stuff. Is it a games fairy? I suppose in a way your a video game fairy ...

X shouldn't take too long if you don't care too much about extra things. For the end bosses you wont even need the supped up ultimate weapons. For the very end boss you wont need much more than a broom handle.

Reminds me I have to complete Assassins creed, Pokemon Perl and play more Harvest moon and Guitar hero. Silly coursework.

The bosses in XII were pretty easy if you knew how to work your Mist Charges. You can do chains after chains. The difficult battles are the side-quest/hunt enemies.

Yeah, I like...finished FF XII. I mean FINISHED. There's nothing else that I could do; beat all hunts (including Yiazmat), got all espers and beat Omega, got all trophies, all 6 characters are fully leveled with full grids, and I got at least one of every weapon/armor/item in my inventory.

I was thinking about doing that forced class challenge and replaying it, but I decided not to. There's just nothing left to do...

Why, of course there is...you wait for the release of FF XIII and start a NEW experience.

There's a FF game coming out for the Wii, that's supPOSED to be better than Crystal Chronicles for the Cube was. More, I hope, of a traditional RPG; Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers. I've seen the trailer and it's not looking too shabby at all. :)

Not one of the games in the "main" stream of FF, but it's supposedly a true, one player RPG.

I'm hoping fit'll be a decent full blown RPG for the system. There's a new Tales of Symphonia II on stream and something called Baroque as well. And I've heard Nintendo Power is going to have a BIG announcement in the January edition about some "big" RPG. The Wii may not be the graphical powerhouse the PS3 or the 360 is, but certainly with some patience and quality programming, something decent can be produced.

I'm not that interested in XIII, mostly because I don't have a PS3, or a wii, or a mobile phone. I like my turn-based RPGs, or when they follow the XII formula. I don't like where Square Enix is going with all these action titles.

Yeah, I got a DS for Christmas, along with FFIII and Brain Age. I intend to get FFXII: Revenant Wings as soon as I can find a copy.

LOVE FFXII!!! But nothing compares to FFX (which they are in talks of adapting into a live action) or FFVII forget the monstrosity of FFX-2 and GLORY BE to the makers of KINGDOM HEARTS

.... O_o. All I have to say to that is: Why?

... Infact, and I'm sorry to say this, I generally disagree with your post. Except the FFX-2 monstrosity part. But glory be to the makers of Kingdom Hearts? *sigh*

Revenant Wings isn't out in the Europe till Febuary so its not possibly for me to have it yet. Though I wont be buying it anyway. ANother game based around some of the flattest, worse characters in FF history? No thank you. I'll just continue playing FFIII and tactics advanced.

I have to stop visiting this thread. Keeps making me in the mood to play FF7,8 or 9. *sigh* I'll just play guitar hero 3 instead.

Why 7, 8, and 9, and not 1 - 6?

9's my favourite, I haven't completed 8 though had it for 7 years and I have a grudge against 7 because it erased everything on my memory card.

I wouldn't say no to 1-6. But also because I can't play them due to a lack of Playstation or PS2. Can just download 1-6. I actually have 3 on DS. But I can play those so I'm not beating myself over those.

I stopped playin out of frustration, I just came out of this cave thing where I versed a few little bosses after a big temple thing... (Sorry for bein non-descript.. I haven't played it for ages) and I used all my points to get really good magic... I didn't know why I couldn't use the magic and had a really hard time beatin all the bosses... about 3/4 the way through where I am now I figure out I have to wait to buy the magic as well... Then I lost interest cause I didn't want to restart or kill/save/restore stats/repeat...

I think they should make a reset points thing. haha.

I finally got out of Pharos... Now going to the last part :-)
