XII hands-down is my top choice for best FF ever. Challenging, smart, and the artistic direction makes me want to study ancient architecture and love every boring moment of it. Unlike other titles, this one makes you feel part of an actual force, not just the usual band of people who can save the world just by themselves. The ending was fucking amazing, and the Judges should be given their own game.

VII is cool, but a little overrated (the greatest thing it gave us is the knowledge that we can do amazing shit with videogames). Standard plot (pretty person wants the world to end because he's sad), but great cast. Excellent music, IMO.

VIII was nice. I loved the battle between the two Gardens.

I played anthology, but I never got to finish it.
 
For me, it's VIII, V, and VII int hat order.

I might just actually buy this game, now...Hmmm...
 
I just got back from Gamestop...


If you're going to get it, get the collectors edition! It is beyond worth it! The tin case alone is worth the extra $10.00! And go ahead and splurge on the Limited Edition Bradley Games Strategy Guide. There's this insanely awesome art collection book inside it! And the covers are different. You get a chance to get one-of-six different covers. I got some stupid skank (Penelo) in an orange outfit. I'm going on ebay to see if I can score one with Balthier on the cover.

The art book has some way awesome pictures of the judges. Really good detailing on their armor and head things.
 
Yeah! I haven't seen either of those movies and yet I found out who he was!! Woot! I totally own.

I completely agree with you. Tom Welling, no. Just no. I don't know what people see in him. Completely overrated in my opinion.

At least you get some kind of discount for getting both. We get 20% over here though.

Oh my god!!! I can't believe you got Vaan!! You beyond SUCK!!! This is not fair!! ARGH! This makes me mad. On top of everything nobody on eBay is willing to unseal them to tell me which covers they have!

I'm not playing yet. Both my memory cards are full, and there's nothing on there I'm willing to delete. I'll go get a new one later, and then I'll start playing. I've already read like a quarter of the strategy guide...something I promised myself I wouldn't do. You're weak Christian. Weak.
 
The game doesn't have any artwork. Well, the inside of the tin case has some pretty backgrounds, but that's it. So yeah, only the bonus disc, and tin case. You get the art book with the limited edition strategy guide.

He's new to primetime TV I believe. He had been playing for a couple of years on the NBC soap "Passions". He appeared often in the obligatory shirtless scenes...

**Back on topic** I just went over to a friend's apartment to see the game in action--it is truly amazing. Everything is so pretty, even the menus!! I know I have to get it now for sure!
 
Balthier and Basch are sooo sexxxy. I think Basch is really hot when he is in that cage and he has a beard and is chained. Yum
 
I played for about an hour just to explore and learn the game a bit. The bargain hunter in me decided to get the memory card on half.com, so now I have to wait like two days for it to get here! Anyway, the battle system isn't as hard as I thought it would be. It's a lot more complicated on paper. You have to try it out. It's quite fun. Same goes for the license points/board thing.

Once you get control of Vaan, and you're out in the desert DO NOT ATTACK THE T-REX. Remember how in FF8, even though you had access to them early in the game, they were still hard as fuck even on disc 4? They're the same way here. I thought I could outrun one, so I attacked it and ran...and...then it killed me with one hit.

To where I got, I didn't see any of Balthier. I did see plenty of Basch though. Delicious!!!

Urgh!! Can't wait to start the game for real!! And fuck, someone give me a strategy guide with Balthier on the cover already!


Have any of you started the game? If so, how far have you gotten?


Am I the only one thinking the PS2 still has a lot to offer - graphic wise - and that "next-gen" consoles could wait a year or two longer?
