ABC ANNOUNCES AN END DATE FOR LANDMARK SERIES "DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES"

Season Eight Will Mark the End to the Successful, Long-Running Series

The ABC Television Network announced today that this season will be the final one for the landmark series "Desperate Housewives." All good things eventually come to an end, and in the eighth and final season, the stakes for everyone on Wisteria Lane are at an all-time high. Season Eight of "Desperate Housewives" will roll out in a way that is accessible even to viewers who may have lapsed in their viewing, and be all the richer and more rewarding to the series' loyal fans.

For Season Eight, Carlos's murder of Gaby's evil stepfather and the cover up by Susan, Gaby, Bree and Lynette has far reaching effects. Feelings of guilt begin to overcome everyone in different ways. Susan starts to withdraw from her friends and family, and Gaby works to reach out to Carlos while his guilt weighs heavily upon him. As Lynette and Tom are grappling with their disintegrating marriage and impending separation, Lynette is having trouble making the right choices ever since she participated in the cover-up. And Bree must be especially careful around her new love, Detective Chuck Vance. Meanwhile a new sexy neighbor moves to town, Ben Faulkner, and he's Renee's first order of business.

"Desperate Housewives" stars Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Hodge, Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis, Vanessa Williams as Renee Perry, Ricardo Antonio Chavira as Carlos Solis, Doug Savant as Tom Scavo, Jonathan Cake as Det. Chuck Vance, Charles Mesure as Ben Faulkner and Madison de la Garza as Juanita Solis, with Brenda Strong as Mary Alice Young and James Denton as Mike Delfino.

I love Desperate Housewives. Is sad that they're filming the last season. Me and my mates are all hyped up about this.
 
I'm kinda glad what is this the 5th murder now. There are only so many cover up mysteries a season I can take. BTW why the heel are they feeling guilty they covered up for Dana Delaney's character after she murdered someone who totally deserved it like Gabby's stepfather. I feel the season lost something last year and if they split Tom and Lynette up then end it now because I want those two strong and happy together.
 
The series started out great, years ago. I'm not even going to bother watching this season, because last season was SO bad! I remember the shows good years though.....
 
Marc said he had plans that went up to a season 9 and why wouldn't they go to 9 if they could with how successful the show is. I bet they want to go the Sex and the City route and make movies instead so that they can make more money with less work.

The whole cover up thing sounds boring. It was self defence and everyone would get off clean if they just go to the police. He was going to rape and maybe kill her.

I thought of the same too, maybe Carlos has record? He used to be in jail for gay hate thing.
 
I think the ending of the show is bittersweet. It's sad to see it end but then again the show is running out of ideas. It get ridiculous with some of the story plotlines. I wish they would show the gay characters on the show more prominately. Andrew is hardly on the show. And the gay neighbors too.
I hope Marc Cherry makes the last season the best season yet.
 
It was a minor character, but who played the masseur in last night's episode? (Watch While I Revise the World, S08E03, 09Oct2011.)
 
I've been very disappointed with the show lately. They seem to have NO idea of what to do with Vanessa Williams, who I think is terrific. But her character just seems to meander through the show. Very disappointing.

I hadnt watched the show in while and turned in the last two weeks and the show sucks, and no more gay characters. That gay neighbor's part with his daughter is just plain stupid and I wish they wouldve killed him off a few seasons ago.
 
Last night's episode had me excited for the first time all year when I thought Susan had been shot and killed. Then I found out that it was Mike and the show went right back to sucking.
 
The sad thing is the higher ups were considering killing off susan in season 5 but opted for edie....shame they didnt off her last nighy instead of the one they killed.
 
I'm hoping for some fantastic creative ending... Not holding my breath, but it would be great if the show went out on a good note.
 
The ladies have definitely had their moments over the years, but the dilf factor is what I'm really gonna miss about Wisteria Lane. James Denton should say "Fuck mainstream!!!" and switch to a career in Daddy Porn*|*

This season along with the last 4 seasons have sucked, and that drive by shooting of Mike was so stupid.
