Many people finger themselves and no one has ever had damage to their finger that I know of.

Asdf, that is certainly NOT the case. While chances are low, one could catch HIV (not "AIDS", mind you) from having a cut on one's finger...any exposed opening to the blood. The anal cavity need not have a cut, though if one would there, it would increase risk.

Well, usually there aren't significant amounts of fecal matter in the rectum. It's located int he upper intestine, held there by the second sphincter. Only when you feel like you have to crap is when the fecal matter travels down into the rectum and sits behind the first sphincter (the anus). So when you stick anything into your rectum, yes, there are trace amounts of fecal matter, but you most likely won't pull it out and have it covered with crap.
 
I wouldn't finger using gloves dont see the point, just make sure he or I was clean.
