**This is NOT meant to be a thread about the need for firearms, or how you feel about them. This is meant to be a thread for those of us who DO have firearms or those INTERESTED in having firearms to talk about them. If you just want to say how evil guns are, please do it elsewhere. Thank you***

That said,

I carry different weapons but I tend to gravitate toward the 1911 platform for carry. I used to carry my Glock 30, but I find that it's a little too bulky, especially when compared to a 1911.

I recently bought a Sig P238 and I have been loving that thing! My fiance shot it and he did really well with it. I think I may have to buy another one for him at some point, as he seems to think it's his hahaha

My last acquisition was a Stoeger X20S. Not a firearm, but a pretty cool air rifle. As soon as it stops raining, I'm planning to give it a work out in the back yard...looking forward to that.

This year I'd like to get more .22s. I have a few, but I think they're great fun plinking guns. Ammo isn't cheap! I'd really like a .22 conversion kit for my 1911s, or maybe a dedicated .22 in a 1911 platform, or both :-)

Ok enough of my rambling, I'm interested in what others here on JUB have/carry/want/like most, whatever.

Thanks.

If the topic isn't welcome on this site then that's fine

I guess if the site ADMIN wants to set that tone, then my request to be civil and remain ON TOPIC won't be respected by anyone else either. Maybe my Supporter money would have been better spent elsewhere

I'm not going to go down the how evil guns are route, but I would say that gun culture in the UK is very different to the US. There's no Second Amendment here.

In answer to your question, and like Corny, I don't have, carry or want a firearm.

Here, I'll try this again...

I know that it may not be the most popular thing on this site, but I also know that some members do like guns. I thought it would be nice to discuss a common interest with fellow JUB members. Is that somehow wrong?

What kind of tone? I answered your question as neutral as possible

I didn't mean that you took a "tone" with me, what I meant was that I had asked that people be respectful of the fact that there are differing views on firearms and I'd like for this thread to not be a discussion about those views. Rather, I would like for the members who ARE interested in them to talk about them.

My goal in making this thread was to have a discussion with JUB members about a common interest, not debate the validity of that interest with others.

As did I!

I think I get it. This is another only-post-in-my-thread-if-you agree-with-me thread. #-o

NO, this is a "I'd like to talk about a common interest without having to defend the validity of that interest" thread. I'd be more than happy to have a discussion about the validity of gun ownership, I'd just like to do it elsewhere. Maybe like in a thread started for that purpose?

What does "ON-TOPIC DISCUSSION" mean anyway? Maybe I missed something

It's not that it isn't welcome. It's more that there is already a thread about guns just a few threads beneath yours: http://www.justusboys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=365233

Yep, I saw that thread and even posted in it a couple times. See what it turned into? A WAY off topic thread about whether or not people should have guns to begin with. I'm all for a healthy debate, but I'd like to be able to have a conversation about an interest without it constantly going off topic, as that thread did.

If you wanted to post about the football season (for example), would it be ok with you for people to come in and say how much they hate football, or that baseball is better, or any other kind of disruptive nonsense, or would you rather be able to just discuss this season's football?

I'm not saying anyone has to agree with me, just that if you don't want to talk about guns, click another thread. If you want to talk about how awful guns are, start a thread about that and discuss it there ... PLEASE

I just bought a Kimber .22 conversion kit for a 1911 platform. It's stainless and has two mags with it. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet. You're right ammo is getting really pricey, so it pays to shoot .22 for practice.

I like the 1911 platform and have maybe a dozen variants of it. My favorite is the Para-Ordinance P-12. It's a little smaller than my Colt Officer's model but with a double stack magazine. It needs a visit to the gunsmith. It throws every empty case straight back. Getting beaned by empty .45 cases will disrupt your concentration to say the least.

Otherwise it's a Smith .357 in the jacket pocket during winter months.

Ah I don't have a lot of experience with Para-Ordinance, but I know a lot of folks seem to like them. How's the trigger on that one? Last I remember from being interested in them was their LDA, but that was a while ago.

Do you have a pocket holster for the S&W? I'm interested to know which model that is as well

The Kimber conversion kit is what I was considering also, since I have three 5" Kimbers. I'd be interested to hear how it works out for you

The rest of the world does not necessarily share the US's love of the weapon. It is not necessarily our (ambiguous) constitutional right to own or carry them. You asked "What do you have/carry/want?" Corny responded honestly with 'none', which is what I would respond. You want to keep this civil, but you are the first to jump down his throat.

Don't expect people to be all buddy-buddy with you after that little show.

I prefaced my first post for a reason.

If you don't want to be my "buddy" because of this thread, then that's just fine. I think you're overreacting, but that's fine. Maybe I overreacted a little bit to Corny's post too and if I offended him, I didn't mean to and I'll readily apologize if he feels he was disrespected.

Thanks.

Whoa -- he didn't shoot at you, he was just very brief in answering.

I don't have a gun, i would like a gun, specifically a water pistol, they are sooooo much more fun than real guns.

I'll believe that when you show me a water pistol that can be used to let the water leak out of a plastic gallon jug a centimeter at a time from fifty meters, or make little stuffed toys sitting on the ground jump into the air.

Yes, you overreacted.

I have a variety of rifles. My current carry for protection is an Arminius .22/.22mag revolver, which sucks but my proper sidearm was stolen from a guy I loaned it to -- so what I want is a new Ruger SP101 .357 mag with the same custom barrel and trigger and grip.

OK I think you guys are right. Corny, I am sorry I overreacted and was rude to you.
I guess I was so ready to be slammed with the anti-gun posts that I had my guard WAY up. But I can see that I went overboard and I have no problem being a man and owning that. So again, I'm sorry.
