Firearms: What do you have/carry/want?

Now please, if you don't like guns/shooting, just click on other threads that better suit your interests and stop interrupting. Thanks

I'm not talking about shooting. I'm referring to Kulindahrs input in regards to my first comment and why the two examples that a water pistol cannot do (for obvious reasons) make real guns more fun. WTF, the comparison is akin to why its more fun to watch a movie on the tv than watch it in a fishtank.

And:

I have posted 3 times prior to your comment, none of them were criticising guns or trying to create an argument about them. Sure, my first post was mockery, but it was at least humoured. All my 3rd post was about was responding to Kulindahr. If you don't want the thread to detour, perhaps you could extend your sentiments to him too, after all, he did not have to respond to my 1st comment.
I hardly consider 3 posts to constitute 'keep intterupting'.
I wouldn't be responding in this 4th post now if you hadn't responded in place of Kulindahr who i was actually talking to. Oh but i get it, your post, your rules, no talking unless its about how much you love guns, even though everybody was responding neutrally as possible to be fair to your opening plea to leave the pro-gun/anti-gun debate out of it. Yet here you are, getting all agro over nothing. You bit hot-headed at all mate?

No, I'm responding to what I perceived. If it was perceived in error, then I apologize. I certainly don't make any rules here, since this is not my forum. I just don't see the reason to argue about why something is fun or entertaining to someone and not someone else. I also don't find it necessary to insinuate that someone is a child because you don't find the same things entertaining, and I take slight offense to that.

Would it be terribly off topic to post a gun quiz? Which US states have the worst gun crime stats?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2011/jan/10/gun-crime-us-state

I'm not saying that all guns are used criminally or even God forbid that I don't like guns/shooting, but it does make one wonder about the merits of widespread availability.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence

Actually, I (believe it or not) am not a fan of gun violence either, and I recognize that more readily available guns to the wrong people is a bad thing. I wish there was an easy answer to stop gun violence while still protecting lawful gun owners, but i don't believe there is one.

It's a debate I'd enjoy having though, and I'd be very interested in hearing your viewpoints. I just think that doing it right here would detract too much from the original conversation. Should we start a different thread and discuss it there? I'd love to participate in that discussion

Cool Guns Kenny!!! ..|

I'll bet you'll have more difficulty finding a place to shoot the AR-15 in Utah than you did in the mountains of Pennsylvania...

NONE of the ranges in or around Atlanta will allow us to bring the AK-47... :(

Nice Smith & Wesson 9mm !!! ..|

And, when you get the Ruger SP101 -- PLEASE don't get tempted, or drunk enough, to try your luck at Russian Roullette... :rotflmao:

(sorry -- that is the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw it)...

:):):)

Thanks,Ted..Nah,finding a place to shoot isn't a problem at all. There are several indoor ranges right here in town, and I'm surrounded by woods and mountains and desert just a short drive in just about any direction.(Well, except for the desert,as you know, that's to the west. But since the Salt Flats are one of the flattest places on earth,it's not the ideal shooting spot as you want a backstop of some sort to absorb the rounds.)

While I enjoyed my spot near the old place in Pennsylvania, there is a lot to be said for indoor ranges.Number one,you can shoot year round regardless the weather conditions. Also, you don't have a million mosquitos fucking with you like you do in the woods..Also,not having to watch out for drunken rednecks on 4 wheelers is another big plus..

Nice Smith & Wesson 9mm !!! ..|)
Danke..I like it..Especially the 17 round magazine capacity.I like doing rapid fire drills and seeing how many I can put on a target..

Huh? Why would you even say something like that? If I wanted to blow my brains out,I would just load the gun and do it.No need to fuck around around with dumb assed games of chance.

Quite.

The point was that different people find different things recreational and enjoyable. Whether or not something is in the olympics is irrelevant. Ultimate wilderness Frisbee golf isn't in the Olympics, but it's killer fun.

And speaking of Frisbees, at the local gravel pit that used to double as a shooting range, I once saw someone who'd rigged a thrower for cheap flying disks like are given out for advertising. It makes a whole different moving-target experience than clays.

Hey -- shooting outdoors is awesome!

You never really know how good you are until you're trying to make out your target through falling leaves, or clouds of mosquitoes, or blinking sunlight through the trees, or even waves of falling rain.

Besides, where can you go indoors and build snow monsters and blow them away?

When I was younger I had one of these:

I usually carry a Glock17/P80.

I'm also issued a C-8, an Hk416 and an Mp7.

At first I didn't like either of the 416 or the mp7, as they replaced my two favorite weapons, the (A)G3-F2 and the Mp5. Took some time to get used to all the plastic parts, but eventually i think they are much better weapons. I miss the pure stopping power of the 7,62 weapons some times though.:(
