WTF were they thinking? You have to cram all your crap in one horizonal row. Look what's happened to the url and how they're showing link-hover info...

If they kept the Status Bar, most of that crap could have been shoved to the bottom of the screen, along with stuff like add-ons. But no. Some genius at mozilla fucks it up again.

When will web designers learn to leave well enough alone? We don't need something new every time we turn around. There is a lot to be said for the tried and true and familiar. But no, they are all busy bringing us the newer, bigger, and better, leaving us to struggle with the unfamiliar.

I was watching a video demo of it. The new interface does look bizarre, lackluster, and generic. I don't know understand this trend of appealing to minimalists with screen design, and putting functions in hard to find or illogical places that you have to hunt for. There is no longer anything distinctive looking about Firefox. Although surely there are options and plugins to customize it more to our liking.

FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS! FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS! :grrr:

I'm mostly mad at how my tabs are harder to see. My older version, they stood out enough. But now they blend in with the background color, I forget this or that is open. Yeesh -_-

Wow. I'm 8 versions behind the times.

I think I'll stay here awhile longer.

Ready? OK, everybody, all together now...

"...PEOPLE STILL USE FIREFOX?..."

When a microsoft employee took remote control of my computer it was interesting to see that they even use windows the same way I do. They close bit torrent at startup, use firefox to browse the web, and see internet explorer as a last resort. The version im using of firefox is 28.0 and its not perfect but not as bad as that one you showed

edit: when i went to check my version it updated to 29....so...thanks for that.

I had to roll back to 28. I hated not being able to move the url bar to the top row.

I didn't even know you could do that! Firefox always updates automatically. So there's a way to turn off automatic updates?

That's my big complaint. When I'm doing research and have over a dozen tabs open, now it's hard to tell what's a distinct tab.

They definitely blew it with this one.

Yeah me too. Get the Classic Theme Restorer add-on. You can put stuff where you want it.

Good to know!

If you have a 64 bit system then use Waterfox, problem solved.
If not then do as others do and retro fit #28

Yep, because internet explorer is a worse choice...

LOL I'm a whopping 27 versions behind on the old system I'm using right now ... its staying just like it is :)

eeek  I would never under any circumstance let a M$ employee have control of my computer
And 'microsoft' 'windows' and various other M$-related keywords are blocked via my router to also prevent unwanted connections...
I tend to believe newer versions have some sorta spyware built in too...there is absolutely no need for a computer to be attempting connections to microsoft when its just sitting there

Never heard of that one, but did try out (on a different computer) another unknown FireFox variant - Pale Moon

Sure is... disabling that crap is one of batch of first things I do with a new browser before it is allowed to connect to the net

Uggg tabs :( .. that is why the TabKiller addon exists :)

Uninstalled and using Pale Moon which is a Firefox fork. The new Firefox actually just assembled some of the most annoying features of Chrome under the Mozilla label, and added a few personally annoying things as well. (Old Firefox you could select everything that was pre-filled on a form by double-clicking, in the latest Firefox a genealogy software I use wouldn't allow to select the father's surname with a double-click which made me want to pull my hair out, something similar happened with some insurance crap, so I completely uninstalled it and went back to using Pale Moon.)

Hmm well I just updated to 29 and, while the default shown above is not to my liking, it doesn't take much to customise it and discard all the extraneous stuff on the toolbar

I agreed to the update a few days ago - without knowing what was being updated #-o That was last thing at night when I was switching off my laptop so I didn't see what had happened until the following morning. And it looked very weird (nothing like star-warrior's picture, incidentally), so much so that I thought there was something wrong with my laptop. I think my add-ons had just conflicted with the new version though. Anyway, I decided to go back to a previous version of Firefox and now it's almost like it was before :D
