Firefox 3.5

Its got some cool stuff for sure, but I still prefer safari 4.

(It doesn't help that since 2.0 Firefox on the Mac has been extraordinarily unstable, and in some cases, unusable)

Some of my add-ons don't work with the latest version yet, so I'm going to wait.

I have 3.0.4 on my mac. Checked for update and was told no update available, wierd!

Downloaded it yesterday. I quite like it, though ConQuery doesn't work yet. (which is the add-on I use at least three times an hour)

(I was going to post that Share Location is a bit creepy, but then I thought "meh, any site can basically pinpoint me to my room if they really want to without me knowing about it")

^ exactly. Share location is a method where you have the control.

Oh and ConQuery most likely just needs the valid version numbers changed, most addons still should be working.

But this thread was not about that, but about the COOL new stuff :P I just noticed that you now get a tab-preview when you drag them around.

Oh yeah, ConQuery'll still work. They're just a bit slow... was without for the longest time when FF3 came out. Ah well...

I quite like the tab preview - I tend to mess up when I start dragging tabs. Quite like the New Tab button on the tab bar, too. And I think the recovery function will be quite a bit more useful now, though I haven't had to try it yet. *touch wood*

Damn. Now if you only have one tab open you can't close it to a blank page like you used to be able to do. Now it works like IE...ugh.

I don't use Firefox in the way you describe with closing a tab to a blank page, but there's this thread that talks about that behavior in 3.5 vs. earlier versions and mentions a few possible workarounds (editing a line with about:config, adding .CSS code, or a "Blank Page" as home page workaround) that might help you out!

interesting, i never used that :)
but i noticed that you get a "search your bookmark and history" text in the url bar now if you clear it, and lose focus.

wierd... it hasn't dropped down from my repo yet.... *worries*

Meh, i'm too tired to package it. i'll sync in the morning :p
According to some website, some linux team has to review it before letting it on the repositories.

The website did give the command line to download it now though.

I think the site was Lifehacker. It was def one of the Gawker sites.

Back to topic:
I have been beta testing it, and while the new features are nice, it is still buggy in the final version. The built in flash video is the buggy part and it keeps getting errors.

So far, not impressed by performance, but hopefully they will fix the bugs.

It broke three add-ons and what I initially thought was a bug is a feature — the wait cursor is no more.

Now, when waiting for a page or whatever, the cursor doesn't show that the browser didn't simply freeze.

I trashed it and reloaded a 3.0.11 backup.
The wait cursor shows up for me sometimes. I think it is a bug.

I just installed 3.5 anyway.

It's fucking awful. I now have two buttons to open a new tab and the latest version of the Qute theme is ugly.

Firefox is getting worse with every version. Maybe I'll switch to Opera, or Chrome once the privacy thing is sorted out.

yes please, and I am sure you will find something new to bitch about - you always do :)

Okay I downloaded it. It seems okay but when you have only one tab open how do you close it to be left with an empty (untitled) tab?

I like being critical about things  It's something you should try too.

Yeah that was the first thing I noticed too (see above).
If you set the home page to about:blank (as Trinket suggested, thanks) when you click the home page button it will show an untitled tab.

just tested it (rarely need it) but the zoom still works fine for me
