According to rumour (I saw it on Jeopardy!), Microsoft once sued a young man named Mike Rowe for copyright infringement or something like that. Had to do with a URL. I'm guessing MIC-RO-soft lost the case.

It's true. Mike Rowe came up with a url http://www.mikerowesoft.com, which of course if you read it fast - it's Microsoft. Microsoft sued him, and then withdrew. I guess it must have generated a lot of publicity that a giant company suing a teen. Microsoft advised the kid to withdraw the url and offer to pay for the fee of the process. The kid said no.

I do not know what happened next.

FF pwnz IE. I switched a long time ago. I despise IE7s new interface too, even if it is more secure etc etc the new interface can't be customized and I is pretty limiting.

Yes, the young man settled for an XBox or so. Must have been great to give out the domain name for something that is worth $30 nowadays.

whois info on the domain says it's now owned by Gates & Co, so I guess he caved.

IE7 may be shit, but Firefox is WAY shitter.

HERETIC!

Burn him!!!!!!

Firefox is superb, Joe - tabbed browsing, tiny footprint, add-ons, security, quick to load and display, better at saving web-pages with all embedded images and links... what could possibly go wrong???

I hate IE 7. I always used IE but after downloading IE 7 and hating it I made the switch to FoxFire. FoxFire has some issues also but there doesn't seem to be as many as IE7.

The usual reason why certain platforms don't work on Firefox are because they use crappy ActiveX controls that Firefox does not support.

Because ActiveX is so horrendously crappy and insecure, this is usually considered a Feature.

1) the most popular programming language on the planet is C(++), which is what FireFox is written in.

2) What you're thinking of is Microsoft's ActiveX/.NET scripting languages, which browsers other than IE legally CANNOT implement because it's MS proprietary technology. This is how MS maintains its monopoly.

I use IE6 and firefox2 at the same time. IE6 has contracted a Google hijack whereby If I click on a link it gets redirected to another search page. However many times I remove it, it comes back. In the end I couldn't be bothered so I now use firefox. But I still use IE for a lot of streaming sites to avoid having to get all the plugins for Firefox. Really just lazyness on my part.

I love FF sooo much better than IE anything. I think its a lot easier to navigate around the web with it. JMO. Plus Microsoft owns everything. LoL
