So last xmas a friend bought me a giant Toblerone, i ended up giving it away as they're too much work to eat.

pic not me.

Have you ever received any gifts that you didn't want, did you re-gift them or bin them ?

I've returned (to the store) some gifts that didn't work out but that's it.

Chocolate is never too much work...what is wrong with you?

I received in the mail today my Hallmark Christmas Ornament booklet. Sale starts on July 15th.

I simply do not remember if I received any gifts that I didn't really want.
If I did, I still likely have whatever it was (assuming its wasn't something like food that'd go bad - which I'd of just passed along to someone else)

------------------------
on a Christmas-related side note:
If I so wanted to go buy Christmas decorations... I could head up to the the local 'Hobby Lobby' store. (yep, 6-months before, and they're putting the Christmas stuff out!)

I told my family that I wanted socks and underwear. My son told me that there was no way that he would buy underwear for his dad.
So now I get gift cards, usually for Home Depot.
You reach a point in life where you really don't need anything.

My first Christmas order arrived last week. We placed the order in January before we cleared the floor of the remaining Clearance. :santa:

would be fun to spend xmas day in bed eating that

Yes. We re-gift if possible. Or put the items into a charity yard sale if we think the giver isn't likely to attend.

Maybe not quite Christmas...but my birthday is August 20. It's now June 23 and I'm looking at a box of cocoa truffles my housemate bought me for my last birthday.

They are tasty enough but I really never crave them. Yet I can't throw them out....

As much as I enjoy giving gifts, for whatever occasion, I do not like getting them. I'm not sure why that is. I have packages that I've not opened.

Of course, I've acknowledged their receipt, and thanked the giver(s) for thoughtfully sending them, but I really have no idea what might be in them.

O.K. I'll admit that's weird.

A few years ago I managed to convince my family that the only gifts we exchanged should be consumable. That way there wouldn't be anything that would "hang around", and take up more space.

That meant money (including gift cards}, or, better yet, food (snacks), etc. Problem is, I've gotten edibles that I've tasted, but would never by able to completely eat before it went "bad". HA!

I do enjoy giving, but receiving is an entirely different matter. I guess that comes from not wanting to feel "obligated", or some such nonsense.

I truly do hold that it's the Thought that counts. And, I appreciate that.

However, things are just things, and if there is available space, something will fill it. There is stuff in my house that I don't know who it belongs to. (long story)
