First GAY KISS on Daytime TV on ATWT

Oh no, I forgot who Bianca kissed and how long ago it was, but then I turn off the TV and actually leave the house every day.

Good for you, sweetie. While you're at it, how about turning off the computer when you feel the urge to be a pathetic nitpicker and let people post their threads, whether or not *you* understand that, this being a site with gay male porn all over the place, they were probably referring to two guys macking, and not two chicks?

Or better yet, turn off your computer whenever you feel the urge to surf on all that chick-on-chick action?

Two consecutive replies by yourself within the same thread says all that needs to be said. And nobody calls me Sweetie unless they know me. Look at the thread title before you get all high and mighty, or at least try to be. Good grief.

I will admit I haven't been following ATWT religiously like you have, but are you sure your characterization of Holden as an "asshole" is accurate?

I can't be sure, but HORSEHUNGdude might be referring to Damian Grimaldi, Luke's biological father, who actually WAS an asshole the last time he was here. Because I've been pleasantly surprised by Holden's acceptance, having been warned in advance about the legendary Snyder high horse. ;)

We all said we catch it on youtube on our time. I bet you really sit home all day but want us all to think you have a life.

Again, good for you, sweetie. And no one makes assumptions about me unless they know me, either. But don't bother to follow your own double standard-laden rule.

HOLDEN is not the father of LUCIANO, that is DAMIAN GRIMALDI who was once married to LILY but HOLDEN has always thought of LUKE as his son and LUKE has always thought of HOLDEN as his dad.

HORSE

IC. Reading a bio of Luke, I did actually know that Luke was adopted, and that Holden wasn't his biological father, but I didn't realize that there were hints that Luke were gay back when Damian appeared. I've never seen any episodes with him, but perhaps this was simply done through flashback, and I didn't realize without the benefit of scenes set in there here and now where Damian tried to make Luke "str8" the way Noah's dad is clearly doing with him, he would be called an asshole, but that's kewl.

ATWT's rating are dangerously low right now. If things don't start to improve, I have a feeling certain changes will be made....Luke and Noah probably being the first.

That doesn't make that much sense. The attention resulting from Luke & Noah is only resulting in higher ratings for the beleaguered show, even if perhaps short-lived. They'll keep Luke and Noah around for at least a year or so.

I don't know. As much as I love the storyline, going around boards, the storyline might not last as long as we hope. The show has reportedly been doing bad the past year, but it has been decreasing rapidly since the news of Nuke came to light. The fans of Nuke aren't really much of a ratings booster, considering most people are watching the scenes via Youtube, and even if they are watching the show, once Nuke is over, the viewers probably won't stick around. I was originally only interested in Nuke, but the other storylines have intrigued me, so I may become a loyal viewer. The conservative women that I've seen express their feelings are plenty, and they don't like the idea of condoning the so-called "homosexual agenda." Therefore, many have stopped watching until this storyline is removed, because they have no interest in watching two men kiss (paraphrasing an actual post I read on a forum).

I feel really guilty critiquing the current gay storyline on "As The World Turns." As a 35-year-old gay man who has been watching soap operas since the age of nine, I can probably count on one hand, the gay storylines that have made their way onto the many soaps I have watched.

What I do like about the Luke/Maddie/Noah triangle is the realism. Noah is like so many gay guys out there masquerading his sexual preference by using Maddie as his decoy girlfriend. The problem is (from what I've read on the message boards all over the place) is is that a lot of fans find them to be a very cute couple.

That's probably the only complaint I have with this storyline: There's not really a huge deal of chemistry between Van Hansis's Luke and Jake Silbermann's Noah. And we all know how crucial chemistry is when it comes to making a great couple, let alone, a same-sex couple, last.

If ATWT is really daring and pushes the envelope, they'll let the romance between Maddie and Noah continue -- possibly into marriage and then, let Noah drop the bomb that he prefers the company of men over women. Now that is an extremely common life situation in the gay community these days. This might be interesting to watch played out. Thankfully it's being done by Silbermann and Emmy nominated actors Hansis and Alexandra Chando.

And speaking of Emmy, the newly appointed Best Actress Maura West has her work cut out for her. There is absolutely no rooting factor for Carly in the Carly/Jack/Katie triangle. I am by no means a fan of either coupling but come on, how can you root for a mother that skips town with a stud then comes back months later and wants life to be the way it was?

Plus Jack and Katie are somewhat cute. Move on Carly.

So glad I'm not the only one that finds Jack and Katie a cute couple. I may have already admitted, I only was watching for Luke last year, and Nuke this year, but began getting into the current storylines. Maybe I'm a horrible person that doesn't fully comprehend Jack and Carly's history, but I love seeing her in pain. When someone schemes that much, I can't help but hate the character.

I feel ya, Linxus. Actually, I would LOVE the character of Carly if she actually was a bad-ass bitch like she was when she arrived in Oakdale back in 1995.

You might not have been watching but when young Maura West gave birth to the role back then, she was hands down (with the possible exception of Jess Walton's Jill on "The Young & The Restless") the most duplicitous bitch on CBS. She was welcomed into town by her sweet and loving sister Rosanna (as played by the very capable Yvonne Perry) but Carly did everything she could to take advantage of Rosanna and that included sleeping with Mike, Ro's then-boyfriend and getting pregnant by him too.

When West returned to the show in 1998, she was a neutered, watered-down version of that original bad girl. But that is so common on soaps these days (bad girls gone good: Kassie DePaiva's Blair on "One Life To Live," Rebecca Herbst's Elizabeth on "General Hospital," and most notably Michelle Stafford's Phyllis on "Y&R").

I too like seeing Carly "suffer" but in a recent interview, Terri Columbino (Katie) said she really doesn't like this storyline because it's inevitable that Carly and Jack will get back together so there's no need to invest in Jack and Katie.

Just interested in the male eye candy at "ATWT," check out my MySpace pic folder for the studs of the show:

IC. Well, in any case, it's nice to see a show other than AMC taking the flak for going out on a limb for its gay and gay-friendly audience for once. Just by doing it, the show moves the overton window forward, and eventually, the conservative women will die out and be replaced by a much less uptight generation of viewers.

I like the way the story is going. On too many soaps, being gay IS the storyline. Once the shock wears off, the characters either disappear or are so far on the backburner, they can hardly be seen. An example is General Hospital: the gay character comes out with much fanfare, inevitably gets gay-bashed, then is gone. Bringing a major character like Maddie into the Nuke s/l is smart, because the complications could extend for some time.
