Threesomes are weird. Sometimes they click, but more often than not two of the guys end up being more into each other than the third and it gets awkward. It's especially awkward when it's a couple and one of the boyfriends is the 'odd man out'. My experience has been that small groups are actually better: that way every guy usually finds someone acceptable. The more guys, the more it's just about sex, which is really what group sex is all about.

For threesomes, 'tag teams' i.e. two tops and a bottom is probably the best arrangement.

I think your 'performance anxiety' was more a reaction to the awkwardness of the situation than some physiological problem.

You would have a better time with it just being the two of you. Threesomes aren't for everyone. We all can get performance anxiety and maybe that's why you lost your erection. You were really into the guy, not thrilled with your friend also having awkward sex and it wasn't a great experience for you. But you did have some fun and pleasured him orally.

sounds like a lot of threesomes to me. there's always two who are more attacted than the other, the dynamic of a lot of 3somes is rarely equal in terms of attraction and what everyone wants or is motivated by. just be thankful you weren't the 3rd wheel, this time.
 
I find it's usually better to be the 1 outsider in a threesome for many of the reasons above. Otherwise, it's a mental workout.
