On saturday night i had a drunken encounter with someone which included unprotected anal sex for a couple of minutes before i made him put a condom on (i was bottom) and i never usually do this kind of thing and it's just made me super paranoid that i'll have contracted HIV. i went to a local clinic and they said they couldn't test me there as it'd only be a half decent test so they gave me the name of a specialist place near me and said to go there next week to get tested and also said something about me needing a hep B shot.

can anyone calm me down a little and offer some words? like what if i did contract it, because i caught it early, will i be ok? or not...?

sorry for the rant, i'm not used to this kind of thing... haha.

edit: just talked to the guy in question and he said he was tested 2 weeks ago and was clean then and hasn't had unprotected sex since (apart from the incident with me, and i have never slept with anyone before this incident so i was clean before it too)

It is unlikely that you've been infected, however I do recommend you get tested for the sake of being 100% sure.

dont bother getting tested next week as that won't tell you anything. wait 3 months.

In the mean time, relax or your going to go crazy with nerves. And always remember.

NO GLOVE NO LOVE.....

u can hve plenty of unprotected sex during ur life, don't be scared of it, just be sensible about it.

god only knows i almost learned the hard way.

Honestly, HIV is the least of your worries. Everyone always worries about HIV but it's probably the least likely thing that you would catch in these circumstances. HIV is not particularly easy to be infected with, especially if he put on a condom after a couple of minutes.

For your own peace of mind, you can get tested with one of the newer tests nucleic-acid tests (NAT) at 3 weeks. It's a pricier test but this with a confirmation test at 3 months should put your mind at ease. I'm not sure which tests the GUM clinics are using- you might have to go to a private lab for it.

The result of the test won't change the treatment but it's to set aside what is probably an unnecessary fear of getting sick.

With that said- since you were sexually active and indulged in unsafe sex, it is a good time to get that comprehensive STD test to eliminate things that most guys tend to get- like chlamydia and hepatitis. If you are Hep B antibody negative, it is a good time to get those shots (which in most countries, you might have gotten as a child).

Well, honestly- did you expect that he would say, "Oh, yeah. I forgot to tell you before I put my dick in your ass- I have HIV"?

His answer shouldn't change your plans. Get tested. Get counseling. Get immunized for Hep B if you haven't had the series. Next time, don't drink to the point that your intelligence is lowered to the point that you get fucked (even for a few minutes) without a condom. It's not worth this kind of anxiety for a few minutes of fucking that you're probably too drunk to enjoy anyway.

Since you stopped before he came, it's unlikely that you would be infected even if he were infected. It is possible, but not probable. It is less likely still if he is circumcised, since there is probably less viable virus on the head. If I were in your position, I would not be very concerned.

I had a similar incident with a top guy I saw several times, and then he had his raw cock up my ass (with a heavy gauge PA in place).....I followed up with him the next week, and he told me his test came back negative...like, WTF? He didn't know when he fucked me raw AND came inside me. You have he advantage that the dude just raw fucked your ass for a coupla minutes. I would wait a week or two and get tested for STDs...syph, chlamydia, whatever. The risk of HIV (unless he was hella hung, rough, or both)...imho

Remember that this was a guy you met during a drunken hookup, so unfortunately you must take his word with a grain of salt. He could have either been lying, got tested too early within the window period, or just trying to calm you down.

That isn't to say that you got HIV or that he was in fact lying. I'm merely trying to reinforce the rule that 'trusting' a stranger is never an excuse, because of the various reasons I mentioned above.

To be honest, he didn't cum inside you and while it's still possible you were infected, statistics are in your favor. The chances of you having caught it from him, if he indeed had it, are very small. It's not as easy to transmit as you think.

Nevertheless, the possibilities are there, and you will have to wait approximately 3 months to be 100% sure. There are a few tests you can get well before then, but they aren't always 100% accurate and are very expensive. If you can't wait, get tested at the end of April, then at the end of May again, then at the 3 month point.

The oral or ELISA blood tests are likely more accurate than not after one month.

The best thing you can do now is always practice safe sex from now on unless you're in a committed monogamous relationship and not to worry yourself sick. Often people 'look' for signs and symptoms of early HIV infection when in fact Acute HIV symptoms are not reliable most of the time unless you're deathly ill. Remember, many of us have been in your position and most of us end up ok.

Have fun and be safe.
