VANCOUVER (Reuters) - Canada's largest airline has learned it sometimes has to take a back seat to the country's biggest sporting passion, ice hockey, the head of Air Canada said on Tuesday.

The airline was forced to delay a flight from Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games because passengers watching the end of gold medal final on airport televisions ignored repeated calls to board.

I kind of doubt they waited. Probably those pilots could be in the same crowd watching the game. They just telling us this right now to get some brownie points.

You know, it's kind of nice to see human beings with red blood running through their veins again. If we can still occasionally set aside our busy schedules for sentiment, then there may be hope for us yet.

and whip up a frenzy leading to excessive alcohol consumption by the passengers on the flight in celebration of Canada's win. Since the flight was intentionally delayed I wonder if Air Canada gave away free liquor in honor of the gold medal. Now that would be a story.
