Florida High School Massacre

Semi automatic weapons sales must be banned in the USA. Anything less is bullshit. The shooter was 19 and had no criminal record, like most of the rest. A back ground check wouldn't have stopped a legal sale of the gun. What would stop it, or make the injury and death count lower would be the removal of semi automatic weapons.

Don't you go messing with the NRA's bottom line!

I am in favor of repealing the Second Amendment.
Not happening. Not now. Not ever. There is no issue that Democrats hold as dear as the the conservatives hold the second amendment.
Repealing the Second Amendment won't do any good. It's not what made us the sick society that we have become. That Amendment has been around for 200 years and we didn't have near daily mass shootings.

...If the murder of kindergarden kids in their own classroom at Sandy Hook didnt change the laws, i am absolutely terrified to imagine the catastrophic event that eventually will.
We've had mass shootings for a while. We just have gotten much more efficient at it. It used to take a while to kill 17 people (or in the case of Sandy Hook, 20 children and 6 adults). With the military grade weapons that we sell as "recreation" these days, it just takes minutes to mass murder someone's children.

Where is your proof for that?
There isn't proof. See the link I provided above- it was a set of disinformation rumors that were on Facebook after Las Vegas (and it wouldn't surprise me if it was promoted by Russian bots).

The only thing that all these shooter have in common is they are male and heterosexual. Perhaps we should outlaw that. ;)

Yeah, that was Trump's fault too.

It may not b his fault, but he is certainly an accomplice:

President Trump said there were “so many signs” that the suspect in the tragic shooting Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., was “mentally disturbed.” He pointed out on Twitter Thursday morning that many neighbors and classmates were aware of his troubling behavior, and he urged Americans to report to the authorities anything that may indicate possible future violence.

Later Thursday morning, during an address to the nation, Trump focused on the importance of prayer, community and mental health but did not focus on guns: “We are committed to working with state and local leaders to help secure our schools and tackle the difficult issue of mental health.”

At least rhetorically, there is widespread consensus that people with psychological issues should have access to mental health services, even if there are disagreements over how they’re provided. But there is strong polarization over whom the government should allow to purchase firearms — including those with mental health issues.

One of Trump’s first actions in the White House was to quash former President Barack Obama’s recommendation for a new regulation that would prevent people with severe mental health illnesses from purchasing guns.

Of course, the NRA owns the government. Click the link to see the millions and millions of dollars paid to politicians who offer their 'thoughts and prayers' to the victims and their families. Bloody hypocrites!

Of course, Trump is blaming the students and neighbours for not doing more to prevent the shootings. And it's a 'mental health' issue and not a 'guns' issue.

America’s gun lobby has deep pockets. The National Rifle Association and its affiliates spent over $50 million in political advertisements in the last US general election, boosting Republicans who promised to support the NRA and targeting Democrats who propose stricter gun laws.

In fact, the pro-gun lobby spent over twice as much to fight Democrats ($34.5 million), as it did to support Republicans ($14.5 million). President Donald Trump, who tweeted his condolences to Parkland parents on Wednesday, was the biggest beneficiary of those ad dollars.

No wonder it's not a 'guns' issue.

Read your source. It did not prove anytjing untrue, mist claims were "unproven". And said the claim was mostly false. Another BS fact site (started /funded by the dems? Google it).
Let's pause here while we try to follow the logic of it is "mostly false" and "unproven", so it must be true?

Bless your heart.

The claom that these mass murderers are heterosexual is also unproven but the gays are notorious for being serial murderers. Also google it.

irony
[ahy-ruh-nee, ahy-er-]
noun, plural ironies.
1. the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning:

Of course, Trump is blaming the students and neighbours for not doing more to prevent the shootings.

They did everything that law and government, democrat or republican, allows them to do: it was when it was decided that it was a federal matter that the FBI decided to do nothing because, apparently, a crazy kid who would kill a couple dozen other kids was not a big concern, no big trophy for a big butch agent and, most importantly, not a threat to the whole country and the whole Western civilization as a crazy kid butchering kids in the name of Allah, or a female exposing her nipples in front of them.

The thing is that they can blame mental illness all they want, but they still don’t do anything to help people who are mentally ill.

Like I said before it is the republican parties fault. They're are the ones preventing any meaningful change that would decrease this chaos.

Do not tell me again that the shooters are democrats without providing evidence. That is ridiculous and makes no sense...the ball field notwithstanding.

No, that's blaming the puppets.

The puppeteers are the gun manufacturers who provide the money to the gun lobby that finances the ads to fool the voters into voting for them. They don't care how many children are murdered- in the end, mass murder is good for business.

And lastly, blame the voters who keep voting for the politicians who keep writing and passing legislation to pay back the gun manufacturers for all that money.

Throw these guys out of office and pass reasonable campaign finance legislation and maybe it might begin to change.

I'm not so sure I agree these republicans are puppets. Being a puppet implies a certain lack of choice in your actions. These are venal politicians who are, by conscious choice, accepting money and deliberately allowing the gun lobby to pull their strings for their own profit and power and who politically they basically agree with. Yes, I do blame the republican party. They are not puppets. They are corrupt accomplices by free-will choice for personal and political gain.

The claom that these mass murderers are heterosexual is also unproven

Other than the fact that they had girlfriends or ex-girlfriends? It would be a fantastic and inexplicable phenomenon if a group that accounts for less than double-digit percentage of the population accounted for more than a barely-calculable portion of mass murderers. One or two gay killers maybe but if you were on a game show and the million dollar question was whether you think most serial murderers are gay or straight you're a straight-up liar if you tell me you wouldn't say straight. It's common sense. Straight men are violent and unstable and have been for about 200,000 years.

Seems like in America, just give a bit of money and you can buy politicians.
The money above is very small amount compared to billions and billions in terms of costs of death and injury to society.

It's a symptom of something else that has happened in American society. There was something that has been termed "The Greatest Generation"- people who had an interest in public service and in social justice Christian teachings.

That's been replaced by "The Me Generation" and the prosperity gospel Christians. And it's not about Republican vs Democrats. Both parties are addicted to power and it takes money to hold on to power.

They politicians that we're electing aren't motivated by "public good". If they were in it for the public good, they wouldn't be doing things like passing legislation to allow mentally ill people to buy guns (HJ40-passed a year ago today on 15-Feb-2017) or passing legislation to partially repeal the Americans With Disabilities Act (HR620 passed the House today - 15-Feb-2018).

They're all in it for the money- it just so happens that the gun lobby gives more money to the Republican party. The politicians aren't pulling the strings... it's the people with the money who are pulling the strings.

But money doesn't equal votes. It takes ill-informed citizens to go to the voting booths to vote for these guys. We have no one to blame but ourselves- either because we vote for these guileless politicians or because we stay home and don't vote at all.

Seems like in America, just give a bit of money and you can buy politicians.
Ya think?
