Foods you love that others find disgusting...

Some of my friends say it taste like "cat vomit" but I totally love good quality UNI:D

Uni (oo-nee) is the Japanese name for the edible part of the Sea Urchin. While colloquially referred to as the roe (eggs), uni is actually the animal's gonads (which produce the milt or roe). Uni ranges in color from rich gold to light yellow, and has a creamy consistency that some love and is off-putting to others. It is nevertheless one sushi item that is in incredible demand around the world, which is reflected in its price. Sea Urchins are a rare treat for those who acquire a taste. Uni has a light, sweet, and somewhat briny flavor and is is usually enjoyed as nigiri sushi or sashimi. Uni is also sometimes served with a raw quail egg. Uni is also considered an aphrodisiac by some. It is harvested throughout the world, however the west coast of the U.S. has in recent years become one of the largest sources, and much of the harvest finds its way overseas to eager Asian customers. Each sea urchin contains five 'lobes' and the harvesting of the uni is a very delicate process as the meat easily falls apart. Uni is a somewhat seasonal item and is at its best when served from late fall through the winter, with December considered the best month by Japanese standards.

I think it's ok. Not a huge fan, but it's not disgusting. I sat next to a pretty cool dude a few years back, who was a sea urchin exporter on a flight from Santiago to Puerto Montt, Chile. He contracted and farmed the Pacific coasts of both North & South America.

Obviously, most all of his exports (over 80%) went to Japan.

I love calf fries as we call them here. Up north I think they are called mountain oysters. Yep. I love a hefty fried bull balls. Liver is pretty darn good too.

That's my favorite kind of sushi, although I don't eat it often, because of the price

huntneo, you and I are going for liver 'n' onions, love those, many don't.

pigs feet
mushrooms
Thick feta cheese
Spam
Corned Beef
extra hot salsa
habanero peppers

I don't know why, by some of the people I know who eat the most random parts of animals think that the idea of tempeh is disgusting. Personally, I think it's amazing.

I once worked for a family who believed that they were gourmet chefs, eating things like caviar, pâté, etc..... but thought that celery was absolutely disgusting. Goes to show that some things aren't for everyone...

Celery is disgusting. Bok choy is 100 times better.

Mayo / Miracle Whip / Creamy salad dressings make me vomit. Literally. That's how disgusting I find them.

I love kimchi, but many find that disgusting.

It's an Italian bleu cheese that not everyone appreciates but is very good on pizza or a nice juicy steak. :)

Oh, that's good all right. But have you ever smeared it on fresh slices of pear? To die for.

Melt it with a little cream and pour over pasta. To die from, but what a way to go.

I'm in for the liver and onions. My favorite way to get iron.

Nobody mentioned sardines and anchovies. I love them either fresh or canned. On almost anything. Anybody grossed out?

I used to eat Mayo Sandwiches before I was health conscious.

I eat so many weird things that everyone around me tells me is gross...

Green smoothies with things like chard, kale, spinach, banana and a apple.
Seaweed
Kale chips, dried eggplant
Flowers off of plants
Cactus (nopales, prickly pears...)
Prunes
etc...
and omg I even eat broccoli! :p

I think those are pretty normal stuff really..

Although now thanks to Sha-Rok I want to try a condiment samich and go buy some veganaise for the hell of it!

I love snails -- but it's mainly the garlic and butter, but I like the chewiness of them.

I love Chef Boyardee Ravioli right out of the can, room temperature; some people think that's weird. I'm also a big fan of raw oysters, escargot, venison, rabbit, and Jamaican curry goat; I can't eat pork pate anymore since it's prepared with alcohol, but I loved that back in the day.

Otherwise, I gross out pretty easily... I once had to leave a restaurant because there was "pig stomach with blood cubes" on the menu, and I simply couldn't be in the same room with people who would eat such a thing. Yet black pudding doesn't bother me in the least.

Many. Some are more often while the others are a bit...ehh...

Tripes are delicious but they're common here since Indonesian people likes to eat innards. The more uncommon part of beef is the feet cartilage---they're like solid gelatin, so jelly and juicy most people dislike them. Me? I have to have them when they're available. ..|

Roes are tasty, like crab roe, fish roe, etc. but apparently it's not everyone's favourite.

Bitter things like bitter gourds and papaya leaves.

And also raw oysters and blue cheese. They are just superb. :)

Did somebody earlier on describe Vegemite as being "inferior" to Marmite? Shame on you sir! (Slaps with glove). A duel!

I'm very happy to eat offal (brains, tripe etc), and I love durian, the infamous Asian fruit which has been described as onion ice-cream eaten in an open sewer. Well, I think it's delicious.
