For a few weeks there

No purse fight..... :jasun:

I dunno it does seem like all those that bitch for a better happier peaceful zen conference on JUB are just as guilty of getting smarmy and insulting.

I kind like smarmy and insulting ....reminds me of the Sunday after weekend bar scene with manly men and queens alike sipping on bloddies and rattling each others cages.

Too bad we're 1,918 miles apart, Peaches. I'd make a :sex: liberal out of you yet.

And I would rather have an intellectual, rational conversation with different viewpoints but I can't take this forum seriously anymore. Too many tempers, closed minds & frustrated individuals and I (as kuli mentioned) have a tendency to dip into satire.

Take some time but come back ...it is rewarding but like a bad habit you will find yourself not able to post for a while.... luckily for me life and work comes along and I go elsewhere.....

And i am moving to KC soon so you wont have to travel so far....so maybe then we can talk about how you can serve your serveman's member

I love Kansas City. There's a great little place near Olathe and another one off the Shawnee Parkway near the BMW dealership. See you there toots.

However I do my best work in Chicago, north side of downtown on Lake Shore Drive. Thought I would let you know.

not as much fun when you have to deal with facts

life is hard

Facts?

You mean like the fact that global climate change is a conspiracy of the world's climate scientists?

The fact that evolution is a conspiracy of the world's biologists?

The fact that Obama is Kenyan?

The fact that the president's recent trip to India cost $200 million per day and required 34 warships as an escort?

The fact that keeping gays out of the military is necessary for "group cohesion and morale?"

The fact that our new national health plan sets up death panels to decide whether or not you should die?

The fact that our new national health plan requires that serial rapists to be given Viagra?

The fact that stem cell research is mass murder?

The fact that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and that Saddam Hussein participated in the events of 9/11?

Methinks your party has proven that dealing with facts isn't necessary at all.

It's kind of how I imagined a coffee klatch on the set of "The Women" would unfold.

mazda,

you made a very good point in the Rangel thread. IMO

and I hope it didnt fall on blind eyes by our Left Brothers

imagine if a Repub as prominent as Charles Rangel was going through his House hearing and was found guilty of 11 ethics violations--- OMFG the OUTRAGE from the lefties!!! Multiple threads and all Repubs and Cons would be painted with his sins.

MoltenRockIII would have flown back to the states just to post

Alfie would have rode in on a cloud to join-it

I know this to be true... seen it before

*even me pointing this out will be seen as something evil*

Well as far as I'm concerned, Rangel should have been tarred and feathered and run out of town.

But there is a tendency in the US, one notices for crooked politicians of both parties to get a pass if they've served long enough.

One imagines that they are the masters that the newbies in Congress and the Senate most admire.

The only issue here though, is how the partisan right avatars like Pixel and Laika always make out like it is a Democratic disease while the Dem supporters end up lobbing back the Republican turds that have been left on the Capitol Hill lawn.

It is the sterile and dreary negative partisan politics on this board that tends to make it less than having cocktails with William F. Buckley and George Will and more like trying to be heard over the shouting into the phones at a T-bag campaign boiler room.

The longer a Congressman is in Congress the more 'seniority' he has, which translates to more political power and clout, which translates to more ability to bring home pork, which translates to more power to buy votes to keep him in office. I don't think that was the way the system was intended to work.

It always comes back to money. Both in terms of who can raise it and spread it around to others to help in re-election, and in terms of who can bring home needed dollars, not even necessarily pork, but actual needed dollars.

We in New York do remember, for example, how during the Bush administration, money to prepare for terrorism flowed disproportionately to places that did not need it at the expense of places, like New York City, that did. Thus, per capita, places in Kansas or Wyoming got more money than big cities.

We are also very conscious here in the Northeast that we get less money back from the federal government than we pay in federal taxes. This imbalance has been somewhat addressed in recent years with the Wall Street bailouts. Of course, that federal money had little impact on the needs of ordinary New Yorkers who are facing transit cuts, lay-offs of teachers, police and fire fighters, etc.

This brings to mind something a history teacher once remarked, that in a healthy Republic representatives are sent to Congress because they are reluctant to go, but do so as their duty. Her point was that when a Republic reaches a point where representatives are eager to go trotting off to Congress, there's a serious problem.
