You have probably done more than me, yet you diagnose yourself with a problem and get down about it while I don't. Why do YOU think this is? Is it possible that your anxiety is irrational and ill founded?

Maybe. I dunno.

All I know for certain is that I will never start a conversation if there's an opportunity not to. Yes, I've met Dan and Joe and got on fine with both of them, but then I deliberately put myself in a situation where I couldn't avoid talking. Under other circumstances I'll still avoid speaking to anyone except the bar staff. Even on the rare occasions that I can actually get out of the house.
