For those of you thinking about getting a tattoo...

Where would you plan on getting them? Somewhere out of the way and easily hidden, or obvious and impossible to not notice?

Also, what would you get?

My current plans are to get a panther on my left shoulderblade sometime soon (which I fully intend to turn into a sleeve), a full-colour phoenix on my right forearm (which will be difficult to hide), "Memento Mori" on my right inside wrist (Latin for "Remember you will die") and "Veritas" on my left inside wrist (Latin for "truth"). I'm also going to be getting a brother-sister tattoo with my big sister for my birthday.

I hope to eventually be covered almost completely in tattoos, but those are my current ideas. I don't want a tattoo that doesn't mean something to me.

Up from my right hip to just below my armpit I have a black and white single stemmed rose, but with dim red petals. It has a scroll wrapped around it which crosses the front of the rose in 3 places, which say "Veni, Vidi, Vici" A Latin saying made famous by Julius Caesar "I came, I saw, I conquered".

I'll try upload a picture. I've tried taking one before with my phone, but the quality was pretty poor, and you couldn't see the detail very clearly.

I was thinking of the logo for my grad school with my degree "MBA" in a banner beneath it. But, I still have my doubts.

i have a chinese symbol on the inside of my wrist.. i do not really enjoy it.. I am not really thinking because i want to put alot more thought into it if i get one.. but there is this really cool aztec sun i might either get on the back of my calf or over the chinese symbol...

Im sort of aesthetic about my view on tattoos.. I dont want to wear my life on me(to have to explain to others).. but i want something that i like to look at and will make me smile

Planning four, two custom made art designs(I believe they're both on my facebook, but if not, i'll post by request), one song lyric(either "transcendence from a beautifully brutal reality is what I seek", or, "a truculent shambolic affair" - both from the band Carcass), and a saying to honor my birthplace(Germany) and both of my best friends(of Italian and Hungarian descent, respectfully). It'll be in each of those languages.

One of the designs was supposed to be a tramp stamp, but at the request of my best friend(who doesn't think I have a big enough ass to carry it off ), I'll put it underneath my abs. The others, i'm undecided on at present time.

Well, if I had a good body, I'd put them to the side of my chest.... If said body included great arms, I'd have a full sleeve. Since I'm very picky and lazy, this will never happen.

Do you only want to hear from those "thinking" about it because I got #'s 6 and 7 yesterday. Photos in my gallery. Most of mine are on my forearms, underneath, easily hidden by a long sleeved shirt. I have one on my left inner ankle that is easy to hide and almost always hidden because I do not ever ever wear shorts.

I like the butterfly one. It kind of reminds me of my friend's tattoo of a bird that is made of multiple music symbols (can't think of the right word at the moment).

I was thinking of getting an elephant tattoo. Not sure where I'd get it, but I'd probably use the elphant logo from Black Eyed Pea's Elephunk album:

This is what I have so far for mine:

It's a combination of three symbols. There's the moon and a leaf to represent nature and the hands of a clock to represent time. I chose them all because they inspire me and because of the meaning associated with them. The only thing missing is something for love but I didn't want it to look hectic. As for a place...maybe on the right side of my chest up near my collarbone.

Why not turn the clock hands into leaves to streamline the design? They're already the correct shape.

I have indulged in ink throughout my life.. I still have empty space.

I never consider anything that can't be covered in a long sleeve shirt or pants. Each one of mine is symbolic of people and times of importance in my life.

I try to never get anything topical or trendy, cause people live longer than fads and fashions.

I want to do my right thigh, and have all the older pieces touched up. I am thinking I am going to go with a large bio mechanics band around it.

I have a Polish Falcon over my heart... it represents the devotion to freedom and sacrifice in getting there.

I have a pair of swallows on each shoulder blade because it is a Sailors Tat and I am a sailor. They are said to represent loyalty and that you will come home. I am loyal to a fault and I surely hope I always return home.

I have a popeye on my forearm because "I am what I am" That really says a lot. I got that 19 years ago..... cuz back then I knew I was born this way....

Finally I have a infinity on my calf because me and five family members and friends went thru one hell of a year. We supported one another and got thru it and marked ourselves forever indelibly because that is how we felt we had affected one another.

I want to get a Eagle spread from hip going up with the V of the birds spread wings center line on my side... I cant find a real good pic BUT the one

kinda represents... it will be all black ink outline as color fades too quickly... plus compared to the pic the claws will be further down vice out as depicted

thinking of getting "When the Pawn" on my ankle (since that's the place on your body that really never stretches or sags over time)..it'll hurt but worth it. I love Fiona Apple so i'm so eager to get it done. been thinking about it for a few weeks.
